Re: Sacked!
Jackie Charlton could do it if he was a bit younger.

He'd have no trouble with big name players, because he wouldn't remember any names at all...

I agree with him - he is the right age.
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt in club football. There's nothing left for him to achieve at domestic level. An ideal candidate.
Don't suppose he really wants the job, though. He's just reminding prospective employers that he's out of work and looking to get back into it again.
Re: Sacked!
Well.... this goes an absolute country mile towards showing that some bloke who'd never managed properly before being Man U assistant coach should never, ever have been fast-tracked a) to a Premiership team(for which he couldn't win F all though spending shedloads) and b) to the National team. Fact is, you should earn the right.
Saying that, it was a pss-weak performance.

Watching the game now - the second England goal was quality.

Yeah it was, shame our hella weak reserve back line was codswallop. Pretty much akin to park players at times.

It was England's best move of the entire game - three completed passes.
If they could've strung together four passes (to actual team-mates) they might have actually won).

Beckham was the only player to show any urgency

Yeah, to an extent, it at times looked like a 'no worries' attitude by some of the players. Typified by the third goal, was a cracker and he only had one touch, but he was hovering and someone should've been picking him up.
A bit of ignominy is good for English football once a decade. Gives us something to look back on and whinge, our team usually comes back stronger for it.

We'll still be shit technically in 15 years time if we don't do something about our kids now.

Re: Sacked!
Jamie Caragher's name isn't being mentioned. He decided to retire from internationals mid-way through the campaign. He was unhappy that he was never selected but always a squad member and substitute.
An injury crisis among the established centrebacks followed - Terry, Ferdinand etc. He wouldn't come out of his petulant retirement. Some flak is due in his direction...

Classic doc!
Wouldn't want to be within a yard of you when you DO lose it!!
Love The Mail's backpage today ... "The Brolly Wally" ... over a pic of a forlorn McClown gazing vacantly at a bleak future!
Some epitaph hey!

I thought the headline 'Mac Knifed' (may have been 'Mac The Knifed') was pretty good as well.

And I am not particularly into football. Just can't stand incompetence and self-centered glibness.
