Easily, under the circumstances I think it has a pretty good claim for top spot.PlanetPakistan wrote:What an innings!
Surely one of the top 5 ODi innings ever

Fantastic stuff from Ireland. O'brien's innings was awesome. Get that man an IPL contract!
England? Well, what can you say. Our bowling and fielding has gone to the dogs. Anderson must go, Broad is probably out of the tournament with a knee injury (Tremlett will come in), Yardy is woefully, embarrassingly out of his depth. And Strauss is a woefully poor ODI captain. I don't think we can beat Bangladesh let alone South Africa on Sunday. We'll be going home after the first round.

Waiting for Bannie media to suggest match fixing.
Congrats to the Paddies
Probably India who need investigating ... only a tie against a crew who squeak past Holland and are outplayed by a country with 15 professional cricketers? Very suspicious.

Commiserations to my English colleagues, but I'm sure you'll forgive me for just one little
Quite extraordinary that the Paddys could convert 5-111 into a 3 wicket win chasing 329.

Re: World Cup 2011
"I thought we were in a great position to win the game, absolutely," said Strauss. "We knew they had some dangerous hitters in the back end of their batting order but with the rate climbing as much as it was, it seemed that if we just kept very patient then wickets would fall, but O'Brien had other ideas. It was an outstanding innings. Just the gall he showed to take the game to us in that situation.
And right there is why Strauss has no idea in ODI cricket. It's as if he's a captain from the late 80s who has been thrust into the 21st century and is shocked by this brave, new modern game.
You can't sit back in ODI cricket these days. You have to keep attacking whether with the bat or in the field, otherwise the opposition will be back in the game before you know it.

I did predict a tie, but Ireland won so I was basically correct.

Heh, heh. I put that on the SA forum during the first game. Now I'm being attacked for being anti South African.

England's batsmen could learn from these two in the middle overs- no pre-meditated, dinky sweeps. Just full face of the bat, hitting down the ground and through cover and mid wicket. Just looks completely risk free, and they're going at a run a ball.

And he has achieved his second consecutive hundred. AB is some player these days. Arguably the most complete batsman in world cricket at the moment. Right up there with Tendulkar, Sanga, and Kallis, I reckon.

If they're going to pick Van Wyk in the team then he should be keeping. AB is a good keeper, but an exceptional fielder.

Exactly.
And now the idea is for AB to keep in tests

There's no chance of another upset. South Africa to bowl out the Dutch for 160 is my guess.
