I've seen some slating of Trott recently, which I don't really understand. Basically he's been the backbone of any sort of totals we've put together & others have failed before him.
Puts runs on the board. At his own pace. Doesn't have any other change of gear. Can't force shots. Basically, his runs are valuable, but he's a bit of a liability if he's still out there clogging up the joint in power-play overs. Or if you've had a slow start and need to step on the gas a little to catch up.
He just can't not plod along.
Clearly missing KP then?

Blimey....
So, do we have to beat the WI to go through? Or can they slither through with 5 points. I'd like them to go through because we would have absolutely nil to lose against the Aus mob.

Think we can lose to the Windies and still qualify if the Bangles louse it up against the Dutch.
Rather not give the Aussies the satisfaction of knocking us out, personally. Let them have their tin-pot knockabout trophy.

Oh come on. You're not really surprised are you? I haven't even bothered to quote my own quote and say "I told you so". I just knew we would f*ck it up.

Yeah, what a soothsayer. Who could've predicted the most disorganised, unprofessional shambles of a one-day side to ever gain international status to give Bangladesh such a good game?
Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
Retarded children would do better, they probably wouldn't even try to play the deliveries which would mean more wides.Henry wrote:Dello wrote:vilkrang wrote:The last two wicket taking deliveries from Shahzad have been incredible.
He can only bowl to right-handers.
Better than Anderson, who at the moment can only bowl to retarded children. As long as they are out of form. And legally blind.

I'd give Shahzad a pass, looked awesome at some points today.Henry wrote:For me, the only players who can hold their heads high in the World Cup are Bresnan, Trott, Broad (now injured), and Swann. Strauss has done ok with the bat but has been a disaster as captain.
Strauss, Prior, Anderson, Pietersen, Yardy, and Bell should be nowhere near an England ODI side again.

To right handers.
Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
Utterly bloody shambolic from England. I don't think I want to see Jimmy in an ODI ever again.
Have to beat the Windies now - good luck with that. Even if we do, does anyone seriously think this shower can actually win the WC?

Shazhads pretty inexperienced at the end of the day and doesn't have the tagline 'leader of the pack'
Hopefully they don't get away with any BS excuses like tiredness. It's just carp decision making - I can't disagree with the side selected today but what about the order? Prior has failed in the position, so rather than take a risk with Swann play Prior there again and let him fail.
Bowling isn't agressive or street smart enough. Basically everything we got right tactically in t'Ashes we've got wrong in the ODI game.

No, but we're capable of downing the Aussies in a one off game. Which would be funny, however unlikely.

This has to be our worst world cup, and that's really saying something. Still can't believe we can get through.

No ... this performance reminds me of the infamous words of a certain Telegraph hack ...
".....can't bat, can't bowl, can't field ..."
This really was the pits - worse than the Oirish shambles ... Jeeezus - it's time England came home.

Seriously, I just pissed myself reading back 10 pages - some funny stuff
This forum only comes alive when England are complete garbage!!
Just think, England are bloody good though. The tournament designers come up with a plan to stop the big sides from getting knocked out early and this bunch of wazzers manage to outthink them.

I think it will be more of an achievement to somehow manage not to qualify for the quarters than to win it, so really we are the moral victors of this world cup.

Morgan is his replacement, don't think KP would have done better than him today on recent form.taipan wrote:Dello wrote:JKLever wrote:

Clearly missing KP then?

In other words, England, like Charlie Sheen, are clearly going for the win.

Indeed, we had the same schedule as the Aussies and they seem alright.JKLever wrote:Shazhads pretty inexperienced at the end of the day and doesn't have the tagline 'leader of the pack'

Still, with a victory v Saf and a tie against Aust, England should be pretty confident playing Aust or SL in the QF.

Oops - we did it again.
Speaking as a Pom, let's hope WIndies turn up and play like their glory sides of the past. We might get through then.
Faded Caribbean glory, and we're doomed.
Actually, scrap that. Bring em home now. They've had enough.
And so have we - of the shambles.
