Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
If the Netherlands can pull off an upset against the Bangers today, is England's match against the Windies still a must win? Or does it then come down to net run rates etc?

England is on 5, Bangers are on 4, so if the Netherlands win, England can afford to lose to the Windies. If the Bangers win, then yes, it's must win for England.Henry wrote:If the Netherlands can pull off an upset against the Bangers today, is England's match against the Windies still a must win? Australia certainly made heavier weather of that than was expected. Kenya had looked the most minnowest of minnows before last night. And weird piece of trivia, eight of the Kenyans had o in their surname and only two of the Aussies.

There is no way Pakistan is involved in match fixing simply because there is an electricity crises these days so the bookies can't even watch these matches.

Clogs not really doing the Poms any favours. Currently struggling at 4-79 off 26. But the Dustcart is at the wicket, so who knows.

Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
Some food for thought...
If England qualifies for the knockout stage, they will most likely have done it by finishing fourth in their pool and having not lost to any of the teams above them. Odd.
And finishing on top in your pool is a huge advantage in the first two knockout rounds. If Quarter or Semi Finals reach 'no result' conclusions, then the team that finished in the higher position in the group stage goes through.

Oh, and the official ICC acronym for a 'super over' is OOPSE. Or One Over Per Side Eliminator.
The side that loses one will probably say worse than 'Oopse'.

Clogs struggling to get anywhere near 200 v Bangers. Currently 9-155 with 5 overs to go. Dustcart has made a third of the runs.

Hussey replacing his brother was a good move. The NSP should now replace shyT with Paine with Haddin to play as a specialist batsman......but obviously this would be too logical for Hildick & co.

It could also qualify as the biggest non sequitur.
With the Aussies not punishing the Kenyans, their net RR dropped. This means that they must beat Wakostan now to be certain of finishing in the top two.

Nah, but no reason to go spack. Cruised it in under 42 overs. England now must win against Windies to qualify, and need South Africa to beat Bangladesh.
Meanwhile things look crook for Zimbos.
