A Liverpool fan mate of mine reckons it wasn't the man, it was the timing of Hodgson's appointment. He thinks Dalgleish would have been out on his ear by now had he been given the job at the start of the season - such was the state that Liverpool were in.
Nah, Dalglish would have done a runner. He has history.

Like when he quit Liverpool the last time?

Exactly. I blame him for the state Liverpool are in now.
Not that I'm not glad, mind.

Dunno, he might just have known that it was right to get out at the top. In any event - he was supposed to have been having health issues at the time. The aftermath of Haisel (spelling?) and all that.

He left an aging team and Sounness got all the flak for the clean out. How soon did he go to Blackburn afterwards?
Heysel, btw.
Heysel, btw.

It was after Hillsborough not Heysel anyway... Did hear him say that he would have gone back after a few weeks/months break but they never asked, just appointed Souness and moved on so he went to Blackburn (the Man City of their day, when mere multi-millionaires rather than multi-billionaires bought you success).

Anybody going to waste their early Satdy eve watching the Skyblues taking yet another goldplated buttfcking?

Looks all over for Blackpool now, can't see them winning another game. Don't think we'll see them in the Premier League again in the foreseeable future but their manager could well be back.

And City have done it. How significant a moment could that be in terms of the balance of power? Good result for Arsenal (and Schalke perhaps), bad one for Spurs and Liverpool...
Just the second final in 20 that will not include one of the traditional "big four".

Yeah it's a great opportunity for Stoke and Bolton now... guess in terms of United though, Fergie rarely lets heads drop and Newcastle could feel the full force of that in midweek. Proves once again they're merely the "least bad" team in the country at the moment (is there only one decent club team in Europe right now?)

Must have been City suppoters then. Most United fans can walk home from Wembley.

Just seen a story that Jermaine Pennant believes his spell in prison for drink-driving has affected his chances of an England call-up... no, Jermaine, Tony Adams did the same and went on to be England captain, the reason you don't get a call-up is because you're sh!t!

My $50 on Man U not winning any titles this season (at 11s) is falling into place.

The trouble is Arsenal would have to win something for that to happen... you could argue the Premier League title shouldn't be awarded this season as nobody deserves it!

Not the brightest spark is he? Maybe announcing that he wants to play for Ireland has affected his chances more.
There are lots of 'head-down, quick but not very good at crossing right wingers' ahead of him in that queue..... Walcott, Lennon, SWP...
Would have thought Matty Etherington would actually be a better shout for England.

Arsenal... You just have to laugh! 102nd minute and Eboue does that...

Heard the half-time score - couldn't believe it, so checked the BBC website to be sure.

Arsenal may not be capable of winning this title but this United side are more than capable of handing it to them. Or even Chelsea, who have been "out of contention" for a few months and still aren't playing well...
