After Reeks and first-innings top scorer Nevill the Nobody safely negotiated the last mini-crisis, the last rites were played out by a fellow called Shaun Anthony Abbott (henceforth 'Speedos"?)

Have there been any comments on the Gabba pitch? I note that after the Queensland openers put on 150, they lost 10-137; then Tassie lost 10-129 and 10-130. Did it start to fall apart after the first session and a half, or was it all bad batting?
Qld batted first under sunny skies so Tassie did well to dismiss them by the close of play. The rest of the game was played under low cloud & humid conditions which was cherry ripe for swing bowling. I think the toss had more to do with winning this game although Bailey & Coyle have shouldered te blame & said lack of application was the fault.

Can the Sozzies hold on? The 10th wicket has lasted 8 overs so far.

The George/Bailey partnership hangs on for a draw. George Bailey must be proud of them.
Will this be Peter George's "Pidge" moment when he finally believes that he is not totally incompetent with the bat ...............
........ as all those nasty folk have been inferring.

"The George/Bailey partnership hangs on for a draw. George Bailey must be proud of them."
A few years back Shane Lee and David Freedman took four wickets each for NSW, leading to all kinds of predictable ad-libs from the now happily forgotten Tim Webster about Lee F scoring the quinella, etc etc.
(BTW the bloke with the Tony Mann-esque clown run-up, who got as far as an Aus A spot one year, and the not always absolutely monochromatic racing identity who went all the way to the top with multi Melb Cups, Cox Plates etc, have other things in common besides aspects of dodginess: the same first Christian name, the same middle name and the same surname.)

I suppose Norf will get some stick for declaring 40-odd runs too late? ~ Given the scoring in the match, 300 might have seemed a fair target in the fourth innings.

Now this is something you don't hear that often...
A destructive spell from Moises Henriques has left Victoria precariously placed in the Ryobi One-Day Cup clash against New South Wales at North Sydney Oval.

But the qunt dropped Podge when he was 27. The dumb flat-footed one and Quiney then took us apart. 7-317 FFS.

Fatty Smith is putting Hodge's innings into perspective, too.
... and I agree with horrie as regards the SOK puppet ... he's becoming more like Chris Simpson every day. I'd actually made the same comparison mentally before seeing horrie's comment to that effect a couple of days back (I know, first sign of insanity, etc either that or he's picking up my thoughts by telepathy, either way it doesn't bear thinking about). All joking aside, SOK bowled himself for only 6 overs today when the going got tough. He's fast becoming a specialist captain. I don't see much future in his bowling a this stage.

North Sydney is a joke of a ground, really. The boundaries are ridiculously short.

Vics getting a pasting here. Perhaps batting first when there was some assistance from the bowlers compromised their scoring but who knows what a defendable target is on this toy ground!

FMD, Fatty Smith went apesh!t, equalling Jimmy Maher's 187 highest ever One Day Domestic score. He hit 11 (I thought it was 12 actually, given he had 10 then put Finch for two zaks over cover in the winning over.
Unbelievable that the Spivs got the taget in just over 40 overs. Good knock by Cruikshank on debut as well. And PMSL at Podge. 144 would guarantee you MoM in most games.

Correction (looks like the NSO scoreboard attendants lost count). Fatty Smith fell two short (185*) of equalling Maher's high score ODD record. And he definitely hit 12 6's, another ODD record.
Ben Rohrer looked the goods this arvo as well.
