Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
Wally, what's the story about Cutting? Has a great action, just seems to need a bit of work on where he puts the ball. Is he still a prospect? He seemed to go off the radar last year.

... as well as Cutting they've got Magoffin, Swan, Feldman, Harris (if he's ever available), Hopes, Laughlin, Rimmington, and McDermott, etc. Probably there are others I've forgotten.

He had ankle surgery last season & only played one Shield game. Hopefully he can stay fit this year.

Cameron Gannon & Scott Walter are in the squad for Tuesday's Shield match along with Swan & Cutting. I think Rimmo has moved interstate.

Changes to Warriors Shield Team
Monday, 10 October 2011
The Retravision Warriors have settled on their final XI for the season-opening Bupa Sheffield Shield fixture against the PKF Tasmanian Tigers at the WACA Ground.
Having recently returned from the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) tournament in India, the National Selection Panel has decided that Mike Hussey will not play as he manages his workload ahead of Australia's Tour of South Africa, for which he is scheduled to fly out late this Friday.
Opener Wesley Robinson has also been forced to withdraw from the match due to a virus. His place has been taken by dashing top-order bat Liam Davis. All-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile will carry the drinks.
Travelling west to begin their Shield title defence, the Tigers have only made one change to the side which took out the 2010-11 title and that is the inclusion of former Australian Captain Ricky Ponting.
Ponting and spinner Xavier Doherty, who are both members of the Australian ODI squad to tour South Africa, have been made available by Cricket Australia to play in the first Shield fixture.
Play commences daily at 10.30am, with live and exclusive coverage available through 91.3 Sport FM and cricket.com.au/livestream.
Meanwhile Bupa, a leading Australian healthcare group, today announced a three-year partnership with Cricket Australia (CA) that will see the country's premier four-day competition renamed the Bupa Sheffield Shield.
And breaks in play during Bupa Sheffield Shield fixtures this summer will be 30 minutes in length, replacing the traditional 40 minute lunch and 20 minute tea intervals.
Bupa Sheffield Shield, Tuesday 11 and Friday 14 October 2011, WACA Ground
Retravision Warriors
Marcus North (Captain), Tom Beaton, Michael Beer, Travis Birt, Liam Davis, Matt Dixon, Marcus Harris, Michael Hogan, Michael Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, Adam Voges. Nathan Coulter-Nile (12th)
PKF Tasmanian Tigers
George Bailey (Captain), Luke Butterworth, Mark Cosgrove, Ed Cowan, Xavier Doherty, Alex Doolan, James Faulkner, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nick Kruger, Adam Maher, Ricky Ponting, Tom Triffitt.
Hours of Play: 1030-1230, 1300-1500, 1530-1730
Umpires: Mick Martell & John Ward. Referee: Ric Evan

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm waiting for Cutting to be involved in a partnership with Peter Forrest.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
Rimmington has a Warriors contract this season ...only bowled 5 overs for Baysie (possibly only played the first week )
...and the injury prone Cameron is out to at least the end of November with a back injury
Nernie got 67 playing for Claremont Nedlands

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
I was listening to the wireless yesterday and heard a particularly concerning stat. Apparently there are 42 ex dubbers on the contracted lists of the five other States...
Oz cricket in crisis
may reflect the tendency of youngsters in the AFL dominated states to try their hand in footy rather than battle it out for years to make their State team and then hope their good form will over ride the dubber bias and get them a gig with the national team..
Only dual sport young players like Mitch Marsh and Alex Keith appear to be opting for cricket over football. In Keith's case it required a guaranteed $ contract.from Cricket Victoria to opt for cricket.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
Tossies win the toss & put WA in. Nernie making his Shield debut for WA. I wonder if the Wossies will end up regretting playing Johnson at the expense of Coulter-Nile.
Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
Dixon or Beer would have been the alternatives to Coota ...and WTF Duffield isnt even in the squad is ridiculous ...
Johnson would only have been left out on CA advice ...and he may get an early trip to Jaapan to be Brett Lee's appendix

Michael and Mitchell Johnson are both on the WACA scoreboard as M Johnson
Should be nice and confusing if they bat together
