Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
Danny ... I presume you're talking about Gulbis ... what's ridiculous about his name? I'm guessing that his family would be from Eastern Europe, probably Latvia or maybe Lithuania ... there's a very high proportion of Eastern European migrants in Tassie. Mostly they were workers on the Tassie Hydro scheme (and in Victoria on the Snowy Mountains scheme). They integrated quickly hence all the Kremerskothens, Hilfenhauses, Clingeleffers, etc etc.

and this why the tossies are nicknamed the toxics...a bit unfair I guess, esp since they specialise in flogging NSW

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
The noozpaper said they were originally going to pick the test side today. How farking inept was it to plan that after only 1 day of the Aus A game. Surely they must have some inkling for a while that that game may have a little bit of importance in shaping the test side

I've not had a chance to see him yet. He's classed as a quick but just how quick i can't say.
Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
There's no way he would have been allowed to leave NSW if he's really FAST.

Given that he wasn't good enough to get a game ahead of Scott Coyte he couldn't have been that impressive.

You hav'nt allowed for the 'Tassie factor' of turning fringe players into champs.
10/96 in just his second first class game. Maybe Bird will get the callup for the first test.

Good stuff.
Always exciting to see a new bowler burst on to the scene. Let's hope his the real deal.

SCG wicket doesn't seem to have sweated, or the Wozzie openers are really sniffing the ball out. 0-37 off 21.2 overs - Copeland 11-5-22-0. Rain, and maybe no more play today.

Reeks has been our best player this year. I guess he must be injured.
