Re: England v Sri Lanka, 1st ODI, The Oval, June 28
Neither Bresnan nor Broad can smack it. It's utterly stupid to put them in infront of Swann..............................
Re: England v Sri Lanka, 1st ODI, The Oval, June 28
Both Bresnan and Broad could bat with only an inside edge during these death overs. It's like they're holding a log.....

That's a very good total. Helped by extras at the end, mind you.
Re: England v Sri Lanka, 1st ODI, The Oval, June 28
All set up for Jimmy and Bres to fling open the doors of their pie shops.
Sri Lanka to get this 4 down in the 28th over.

Not a bad effort given Bells crabbing just when we needed someone to up the rate.
Not a bad effort at all, despite having no confidence in our ability to defend it.

Absolute shocker from Bowden there. What DRS was invented for. PItched outside leg, wouldn't have hit a fifth stump.
Hope he's not standing in the India series...

I heard them say on commentary that he's standing in the first two tests of the India series, unless he does a 'Bucknor'.......

You would have to think that the new ball will swing in the overcast conditions. It would be handy if we could nip a couple out in the powerplay.

Aside from the fact that I'm recoiling in disbelief that Ian Belfohl™ didn't score a 12 ball hundred, 230 is a good score - but more importantly, England's intent was right for a change. Get on with it.
Can't help feeling that getting Cook and Trott out early helped their cause.
Kieswetter: he's got some talent. Hits a clean ball. I still think he should be at six until he's established himself in the side. Such a big ask to expect a newcomer to both pinch-hit and nail down a place as, at some point, he'll be dropped because of his average - even though he's been picked to get his risky on.
Can they defend it? Doubtful. But it's a bit swingy - Jammah could nick a few out early, and I reckon that'd be that.

Yeah, dreadful. Bumble screamed 'out' straightaway as well, to my eyes it looked unequivocally not out at real time. Nowhere even near. Nowhere in the vicinity. Like utterly plumb not out. Not out in any way, shape or form.

If he doesn't do well here, I hope they write his ODI career of right here and now and be done with it.

Jimmy's dragging the ball down too short.

Good to see that the three way captaincy bitchiness has started- Broad left out Bell the other day, and now Cook doesn't give Broad the new ball. Reeeeoooowwww!!!!!

Another poor ball gets a wicket.
Shame for Sanath, goodbye you legend. Got a great reception, deservedly so. Thank you for the fond memories of smashing England all over the place....

Probably shows why umpiring was the least successful of Bumble's four careers in cricket. The only one in which he didn't reach Test level, in fact!Brass Monkey wrote:Dello wrote:Absolute shocker from Bowden there. What DRS was invented for. PItched outside leg, wouldn't have hit a fifth stump.

All hail to the Mighty Illy.
I remember when Illy got a wicket with his first ball in Test cricket, and the Beeb ended coverage (probably for some sh!tty gardening show) before they could show his next ball.

Probably. He's spot on with every ruling however, knows his stuff thoroughly.
