And in other shocking news, Scotland have failed to reach a major finals for the first time since the last major finals.
So, that's what the loud 'YIS FARQUIN YOOOOSLIS' was eminating from the pub a while back was all about....
As for England. We qualified. We're still technically crap and the Premier League rules all so we've not a chance.

Henry wrote:It was a hot-headed moment from Rooney, but I think it was more a frustrated tap rather than a vicious, dangerous kick. The Montenegro player didn't make that much of it, and Rooney wasn't boiling over.
A more sympathetic Ref might have weighed up the whole situation a bit better and given him a yellow.
Would have to be a very sympathetic ref. You can't go running round hacking the crap out of defenders calves like that, at least not without at least a pretense of playing the ball. He got what he deserved.

I feel desperately sorry for the big clubs here. Why shouldn't they be able to make their own TV deals, thus extinguishing the already pretty much non-existent hopes of any other club doing well in the premiership?
Football should be about increasing the gap between the top 4 teams and the rest of the pack. Makes for great entertainment.

And who is this voice of reason?
Alex Ferguson. Even Alex Ferguson thinks it's unfair. Alex f**king Ferguson.

F**K Steve McLaren. Most people were rid of this sh!t weasel after 2008 but he just had to go and take a sh!t on Forest before finally f**king off from my life.
Dick. Total dick.
Called it before the season started, Dello took a running leap to his defense and was crying all over the shop. I just knew it. He's a f*cking shitlemon wastrel.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
Aye, well, wait til Dello gets hold of you. He'll start F'ing you. Something about how bwilliant he did at Boro blah blah blah.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
Indeed, those monumental successes he had at 'Boro. What did he win there again?
Ah yes, the illustrious trophy that is the League Cup.

Something about not spending as much as other clubs, finishing in the top half of the Prem, winning the league cup, winning the title with Enschede. All cursory bullsh!t that didn't indicate that much positivity to me, but to him... well, there was so much adulation I thought Scott Borthwick and Jason Roy had gone back in time and begat him together.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
Vilks, only thing that could get worse about McLaren in your life is your girlfriend could want to run off with an older man ( 'Schteve'.....)

Class A pillock Wayne Rooney has been banned from England's group games of next year's Euro finals. So, by definition, he will miss the finals completely.

Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
Typical over the top punishment for an England player though. Probably not much point taking him if he can't play in the first three games, though I guess they will appeal. We don't exactly have a load of world class talent up front, guess plan B will be Ashley Young in the "number 10" role behind A N Other striker.Basil wrote:Class A pillock Wayne Rooney has been banned from England's group games of next year's Euro finals. Anyway, the draw might help Crapello (or whoever replaces him in the meantime) decide whether to take Rooney. No more easy groups like last year, please - let's have Spain, Germany and Holland and let them sink or swim, rather than going out feebly to Estonia (what do you mean, Ireland might beat them in the play-off, they're as bad as Forest at them!)

Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
Have they ever won one in their entire history?
If the answer is "yes" then they are better than Forest at them. F**king Forest.
I agree with regards to the group, lets have 3 entertaining games against top sides even if we get dicked. Limp dick knockout stage defeats are so last decade.

Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
I suppose the gamble to take might be to have a suspended Rooney in the squad instead of the third keeper, then you don't lose an outfield player. He's probably better in goal than Scott Carson anyway...

Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
Ir is a massive gamble to take him though.
Hypothetically, even if we did get to the knockout stages or even the final (hahahaha) he might get sent off anyway.
Not sure where I stand. He's obviously by far the best forward in the country and you'd have to think he's going to have at least one more major finals where he actually does the business. Would be mental if when he retires that Euro 2004 is still his best effort.

I think you've got to take him. If we do get to the knockout stages we'll need Rooney.
What should the team be without him?
Maybe:
...................................Hart............................
Smalling.....Ferdinand.....Terry.......Cole
..............................Parker............................
Walcott....Lampard.....Wilshere.....Young
..............................Bent.................................
Or maybe fit Gerrard in there somewhere? Though i'm not sure what his best position is these days. Cleverly could be pushing Lampard, ditto Jones one of the centre-backs. Maybe go with 2 up to and Welbeck with his pace could be an option?
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12
Looks very much "same old sh!t"... don't think Fat Frank will be a guaranteed starter again and probably the same goes for the ageing, injury prone Ferdinand.
Think Young is likely to be lined up for the Rooney role in his absence. Hopefully some of the younger players will step up this season and make a case for a starting slot.

I dunno. Just seems almost inevitable even now that we'll get a so-so group, get through by the skin of our teeth only for Rooney to do something to feck it up as soon as he's back.Gary 111 wrote:vilkrang wrote:Ir is a massive gamble to take him though.

But you're right of course. We aren't winning anything or even getting close to winning anything without him. Even with Germanesque luck with the draw.

Oh and also, Steve Cotterill.
Can't do any worse than McTwatface I suppose.

Good start, losing to Coventry... At least there's still one team below us. For now.
