John Della Bosca. He's the bloke who not only Married Belinda Neal, but he also cheated on her.
I don't think he could be referred to as anything approaching 'sage'.

Fair enough on the first point, but cheating on the mad, ugly bitch might be seen as sage. Mind you the dumb bastard's no oil painting himself.
Reading between the lines the only reason he's opposed to a carbon tax is he sees it as a vote loser. Hardly altruistic.

Or Shrek without the smarts, and the green thingy happening, and there's no chance his main squeeze is going to turn into Cameron Diaz anytime soon.

sometimes it's about the journey and not the destination
but in this case it is a bit like travelling first class to Ipswich

as always ...cheating is never the problem ...it's the getting caught that causes the problems

10 minutes down the Hwy. Our quiet little oasis of the world is becoming more gangified and violence-prone each year, unfortch. Never heard of the Tuddenhams but their house is walking distance from where I worked up until 6 months ago.

From crikey.com today:
Who watches Media Watch? More than listen to Jones. Media Watch last night played a clip from an interview with Sydney radio host Alan Jones last week who disparagingly asked "who watches Media Watch?" and generally bagged the program. Let's go to the numbers ...
Last night, 584,000 people watched Media Watch in the five metro markets. In Sydney, according to radio ratings survey four, a cumulative 501,000 people listened to Alan Jones on his 2GB breakfast shift, and the average daily audience was 172,000. Media Watch's Sydney audience last night was 202,000. So the answer to Jones's sledging question is: more people watch Media Watch than listen to Alan Jones, especially in Sydney! -- Glenn Dyer

You can thank the SSPFSP's plea to keep the rates down for that
I know they will be accepting the credit

It's a fair point - Glenn Stevens does spend much of his day reading it after all.

You'd be pleased he didn't listen to Terry McCrann. I can't wait for tomorrow's column after today's attempt at playing the armless, legless knight from "Holy Grail".

Anyone looked at the yield on the Aussie 10yr govt bond – it’s 4.73%! That's below the cash rate!
Here comes the recession! (Just check the history charts.)

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (III)
no doubt heading into another gfc - seppo economy to go backwards - goodonya repubs and Murdoch. Seppo demand for China goodies will slow further...in turn some ramificications for the big mining pit that is Australia....the building sector are already bleating about fall off in demand...so signs for Oz are not good in the short term..
however...we are still better placed than other developed countries courtesy of a range of factors including how well the current government pump primed the economy when it was required during GFC1...further slowing of consumer demand here is not such a bad thing (re inflation)...reduces our carbon footprint if nothing else (that is a joke barney)...may also promote savings and divert investment into more productive ends

Aye - an inverted yield curve ain't a great sign. It's probably a good time to fix your mortgage rate.

You'd better lock in quickly - I don't see TDs going up in the near future.
