I once got stuck in Tamworth during that dire festival...the whole place was filled with Windsors' doing line dancing...I had to hide in my motel room with copious quantities of restorative grog, 2 full boxes of cigars and the worst dial in pizza I have ever experienced

Brown's had a gutful

"GREENS' leader Bob Brown has launched a savage attack on the Government's asylum seeker policy after admitting he had "bitten my tongue for some time''.

Senator Brown said Prime Minister Julia Gillard had moved to the right of former Liberal Prime Minister John Howard, former Immigration Minister Philip Ruddock, and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.

He pledged to fight in Parliament against any Government attempt to re-open the Malaysian swap deal which was scuttled by last week's High Court decision."

---------------------------------------

I'd love to see a headline in a week, "Gillard stiff-arms Brown in corridors of power". And I don't mean up the clacker.

Unfortunately he's right. When we stop pandering to the lowest common denominator, or if we did ten years ago, we'll save a fortune on bullsh!t solutions by processing them onshore. Economically and morally, and now as it turns out legally, it makes sense.

But what a weak qunt. He's hitting the Vulture when she's punch-drunk from constant bad news. That's the Opposition Leader's job.

And unfortch he's doing a pretty reasonable job. He's obviously outsourcing his message to professionals.

The fear is that becomes a selling point to the people smugglers ...and they just start cramming people into boats and wait for them to get picked up in Oz waters and processed onshore

I have no idea what it takes to check someones refugee status ...but Im sure it could be done a hell of a lot better than it is now

Farkin' A Bubba. Save the $200 mil, spend some of it on better processing, get the real refugees into society (and probably working for Twiggy), fark the rest off back home on the shittiest aircraft available and let their home regimes know they're coming back.

Brown should be happy for the ALP to continue down this path re asylum seekers. He will end up being the Opposition leader after the next election when one of the main reasons to vote for the ALP disappears.

It is pathetic how much the ghost of Howard still haunts the ALP.

Last time i looked the majority of the population were fed up with these freeloading foreign opportunists.

Channel Nine's c0cksucking of the coalition knows no bounds.

At the public service strike rally today, one protester had a poster of Fatty O'Barrell with a Hitler mo added. The pious creep on Nine said that 'went too far'.

Yet the multiple placards calling Gillard 'a bitch' and 'JuLIAR' were OK a few weeks back. Fair duinkum, sh!t TV channel.

classic chippy politician...from abc online

Queensland independent MP Dorothy Pratt says her days in One Nation made her proficient with a handgun.

State Parliament has been debating amendments to increase the penalties for some weapons offences.

Ms Pratt, the Member for Nanango in south-east Queensland, says she learned how to shoot a rifle when she was 12, and had more firearms training after she got into politics.

"That was at a time when I was part of One Nation and there was a lot of threats going around," she said.

"It was advised that I actually learned to protect myself with a hand gun and I did find that with a handgun I'm very proficient - my trainer was very pleased with me.

"But the point is I don't believe guns are what kill people or hurt people or endanger people, it is the person holding the gun."

love the last sentence!!!... the one great thing the shiver in search of a spine did was the gun buy back scheme...kudos to the shiver

That being the number one problem with guns. Any idiot with two minutes of familiarisation can use one proficiently.

At least she got a trainer to help her ...and hopefully most of his training was on gun safety rather than hitting targets

Gun safety in her case would best be served by not giving her access to one.

Isn't it illegal to carry a hand gun?

If so, has she just admitted to a crime?
