He can't go back, Broad. Surely he's "got it' now. Surely?
Did youse both see the post-match interviews? IMO Broad looked pretty incensed that Nasser had brought his gashitude up. He's a total nob.
Yeah, he seemed to suggest he'd be reluctantly sticking with this current "idea" of taking wickets for the "next few Tests".
Then again, I was distracted from the post-match interviews by Naz's inability to grasp the notion that a microphone amplifies your voice and therefore you don't need to shout at the top of your lungs as if trying to hail a distant rickshaw.
Was he auditioning for the boxing? When he introduced Strauss, I thought he was going to breakout the "weighing in at 130 pounds, the Radley Wrangler, Cap-a-tainnnn STTTTRRRRRAAAAAUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!"

Heh heh, well I think he was trying to emphasise the magnitude of the result and gee the crowd up like the showman he is.
As for Broad, I reckon he must rate at least a Dwayne Bravo on the FIGJAM scale.
Re: England v India, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 29 Jul-2 Aug, 2011
Really weak from India. England broke them in the field. Heads dropped. Body language was terrible. Wheels were coming off all over the place.
To collapse to 60-6 on a pretty placid track that had just yielded 550 runs with an rpo of 4+ from a ten man batting line-up, is pretty pathetic, all in all.
They didn't fancy it in the slightest.

Showman. Nasser. Hussain. These words don't belong together. Unless accompanied by Is, Not, and A.

Although I would like to mention Strauss' captaincy again.
60-6. 400 behind. New batsman at the crease.
Two slips...

At least we're not Australia yet.
No doubt in a few months we'll be worse.

Yeah, all I've heard people like Manjrekar or Gavaskar go on about is Sehwag, Gambhir(are you F*CKING kidding me?) and Zaheer. OK, they're a massive loss, no doubt about it - but it's not particularly that though IMO. I reckon we'd most likely have beaten them with those players in by the simple fact that there is such a gulf in the fielding and back-up bowling - they've had the best of the conditions and still gotten rinsed bigstyle.

Although both sides share the same problem of not having a spinner.
(Not that England can claim much superiority on that score given how Swann bowled this week)

What's good about this England side is that the teams who are better players of spin struggle against the pace. And vice versa. We've pretty much got most situations covered in this regard.

Swann at least looked the part. Unlike Bhajji who looked like anything but.
Although I do think we'll at least have fewer problems finding a better spinner than the Aussies.

Possibly both. I obvo meant it as a joke and possibly mistook you for taking me seriously?

Zaheer's the big miss. But even if he was playing the bowling would still have the same problem of being just a three man attack and some beturbaned poseur. The seamers would've been ground into the dirt regardless.
In any case, the absences are somewhat self-inflicted. Zaheer turned up in rotten shape. Sehwag chose to defer a shoulder operation until after the IPL, ruling him out of the start of this tour - presumably a decision sanctioned by the BCCI. Gambhir pussied out of this Test with a bruise. Imagine him trying to explain that one to Allan Border.
India have turned up with excuses, but not much else. And that's a real shame.

Yes. I didn't honestly believe you thought Nasser Hussain was the height of beguiling showmanship.
Although if he just threw in a "three, f*cking three" homage into his performances, I would certainly be willing to reconsider my position.

Yessir. But Swann did bowl poorly. Didn't take many wickets in the first Test, but was a constant challenge in unfavourable conditions.
Had a shocker this week.

Yeah, it's a big shame. There will always be a footnote under this series and England are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If Sehwag turns up and gets rolled then he's out of practice, if he flays us about then this is what they've been missing. If Zaheer plays and doesn't take wickets then he's not fully fit. If he takes wickets then that's what they've been missing. Gambhir? Well, as I've already highlighted he's hardly made any runs in 18 months absolutely no biggedy whatsoever. One could argue that Dravid up top and Yuvraj down the order did better than Gambhir could've dreamed of.

Yeah, though, I mean - he used to romp up the century celebrations - people love to splurge bile about KP's celebrations, never heard them talk about Nass that way.

Well yeah, I suppose it's been a year since he 'got results'. It must start to crack even the biggest of egos.

I'm so jealous of India right now.

Ravi Shastri - that whole video posted by krikri? He's always been more than bullish about India, just like Beefy for us though?
Re: England v India, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 29 Jul-2 Aug, 2011
He embarrassed himself big time, he looked like he was about to cry.
From what I gather, it was because Nasser said it was a disgrace that the BCCI are dictating over what parts of the DRS can be used. Then he went off into some wild rant.
He didn't seem to want to refute or respond to Nasser's point, he just started spouting off about how England are supposedly jealous about everything to do with Indian cricket. He came across as a churlish fan who is getting a bit worked up that his team are losing. Dare I say if England do become world number 1 at the end of the series, he'll then start saying how we aren't the real number 1 because we haven't won in India since 1984 or so?
Oh well. It all entertained me anyway
