Eng v WI, 2 match T20 series, The Oval, 23 & 25 Sep, 2011
What's worse than ending the season with a couple of meaningless T20s against a side not even having a proper tour this year? A couple of meaningless T20s against a second string side because their better players are taking part in a slightly less meaningless T20 competition... haven't even heard of half of them.
West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (capt), Christopher Barnwell, Miles Bascombe, Devendra Bishoo, Nkruma Bonner, Johnson Charles, Derwin Christian (wk), Fidel Edwards, Danza Hyatt, Ashley Nurse, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Krishmar Santokie, Dwayne Smith.

S'what I like. T20's an exhibition. So let them exhibit. Don't care about the results. It's a nothingness. Doesn't mean I won't watch it and I won't be intrigued. Why, for instance, should I give a flying foofoofoodle about the India T20?
Re: Eng v WI, 2 match T20 series, The Oval, 23 & 25 Sep, 2011
There are some great names in that WI squad there, as usual - Miles Bascombe sounds like a Cambridge dandy, and Derwin Christian sounds like a cult leader from Waco. Danza Hyatt? Get him up front of the reindeer pack this Advent ...

Plus Johnson Charles is one of those classic 'wrong way round' names.

Who's the Boss?
Urban Dictionary ...Tony Danza
when you are having sex with a girl from behind and you say "who's the boss"? she will most likely reply "you are"...you then donkey punch her and say "Tony Danza is the boss, bitch, show the man some respect". a few minutes later, you ask her again and when she says "Tony Danza", you donkey punch her again and ask her why she is thinking about other men while you two are having sex...

Any relation to Roly Hyatt, the amazing Tasmanian allrounder from the mid 80s?
I originally thought of Frank Hyett until I realised the spelling was slightly different. Horace would remember Frank, an important trade union official who kept wicket in three games for Victoria & scored a FC century. Sadly Hyett died of Spanish Flu aged only 37 in 1919.

Thanx Wally - by all accounts Frank was a terrific bloke...an early mate of John Curtin's and a great organiser and orator...according to the Oz dictionary of Biography he contracted the flu on a cricket trip to Sydney...
the only down on him was his involvement as an official with the Carlton and Cricket and Footy Clubs!

Is Ashley Nurse related to Seymour?
(I'll stick my neck out and guess Alphabet Soup Bonner isn't related to George, or Neville)

Don't think he is, he's not Bajan for one - not that they can't move around, obviously.

Who do we reckon England will put in their squad? Couple of rogue picks, some Lions and some senior players?

1 - Petersen?
2 - Steven Borthwick?
3 - Joe 'I'm sh!t, can't get it off the wicket, let alone the square' Root?
4 - Haven't you seen? Lil' Jim T, St*kes and the like are getting dicked today.
5 - Onions in front of Harris and Borthwick, are you insane?

I've made amendments.
1. Joe Root
2. Craig Kieswetter +
3. Eoin Morgan
4. Kevin Pietersen
5. James Taylor
6. Johnny Bairstow
7. Ben Stokes/Rick Pyrah
8. Stuart Broad*
9. Scott Borthwick
10. James Harris
11. Graham Onions
It's meaningless, so give them all a go! Then swap the squad for the 2nd T20.

Yeah, I was having a jape about the likes of JimT and Stoker - get them in. Joe Root? Just checked, knew it, he's got a T20 S/R of 100! F*ck that.

It's alright, Trev gave him a nod. He'll be 'Trevved' within two seasons.
In all seriousness -----> Yeah, he's got some talent. But to even bracket him with the likes of Hales, Stokes and Taylor (who've actually done something apart from play a few good shots) is quite preposterous.
Re: Eng v WI, 2 match T20 series, The Oval, 23 & 25 Sep, 2011
Pah. Nonsense. I only SUGGESTED he must be close to being the next opening batsman in line considering the ENGLAND SELECTORS named him in the LIONS SIDE. They did it, not me.

You were touting him for a winter tour spot! Reserve bat!
Re: Eng v WI, 2 match T20 series, The Oval, 23 & 25 Sep, 2011
No, I was saying he must be considered an OPTION considering he's clearly on the England selector's radar? Who else is there if Strauss and Cook suffer debilitating sex injuries??

My man IJL Trott. Next? Make Malteasers open. Next? Jimmy Taylor. Next? Jimmy Anderson. If all of those are injured, choose someone like Hales - got some tough runs earlier. Then, miles down the line? Stephen Peters.
