Re: South Africa v Australia, 2nd Test, Johannesburg, 17-21 November, 2011
So Taipan is it overcast or what? Will the day's play be truncated due to bad light?

Optimism abounds!Red wrote:1 p.m. start with seventy overs possible is the latest. Sun is out, skies are blue. That surely favours the Aussies.
All three Saffer quicks swing the ball (at pace) .... fifth day wicket ... weather interruptions ... more cloud creeping in ....
Hmmmm ... a long way to go yet!

It is generally overcast but the cloud base has lifted a bit and there are blue patches. We should get some play in but the light will not last until close of play even if the weather doesn't close in again.

Who cares, though, really? We all know Bowden will ceremoniously flip the bails off at half two. The f*cking twat.

They're on. Sweet.
May the better team win.

Lawson is reasonably confident of an Aussie win.

Should favour Aus. Don't know if the weather will last, though...

Philander bowls Clarke for 2.
Game on.

Great ball this. This gus has been such a find for SA.
This partnership is the key for Aus. If SA manages to taken one more wicket quickly, it'll be uphill task for Aus to square the series.

Ponting's almost a lone man, after Hussey. What will he do....
Re: South Africa v Australia, 2nd Test, Johannesburg, 17-21 November, 2011
Clarke is walking on thin ice as well, redeemed himself quite a bit by that 151 in the last test.
His numbers of late are pretty ordinary though for someone who is now Aus captain,
He averages 39 during last 2 years, 31 during last 1 year and if you take out his 151, he averages only 24 during last 1 year.
Those are some seriously bad numbers.

Game over for Aus and very less likely for Ponting?

Most definitely he has played his last innings against SA though.

The strines are probably done for, unless Haddin actually shows some backbone.
Re: South Africa v Australia, 2nd Test, Johannesburg, 17-21 November, 2011
Hmm. He fought hard, but yet again Ponting has thrown it away with a poor shot. The way he got out, rather than the way he got in, could signal the end of his test career.

Ponting has a great record against us at home though.
That might weigh in his favour for coming Aus season.

He had a great record against England and South Africa as well before playing them recently.

Steyn bowls an absolute peach to Hussey first up. Lucky to survive.
HTF can the Saffies swing the ball so easily whereas the likes of Cot and Midge bowl gun barrel straight?

Because Australian bowlers are coached to avoid injury whilst English and South African bowlers are coached to swing the ball.

130 to go, fading light, no batsmen in the shed, facing the best fast bowler in the world and a couple of useful backups ... aye, Hussey has to score 110 of them if we are to have any chance.
We have the proverbial two chances.
