Should be a keen contest, not so much between the sides but with Midge, Bolly & Rhino out injured, one of Cutting, Milf, Patto or Starc are likely to get the nod for the first test.
Room also for one of the batsmen with Australia's middle order struggling.

Australia A: George Bailey (c), David Warner (vc), Michael Beer, Tom Cooper, Ed Cowan, Ben Cutting, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nic Maddinson, James Pattinson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade (12th man to be named).
New Zealand:Ross Taylor (c), Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Dean Brownlie, Martin Guptill, Chris Martin, Brendon McCullum, Jesse Ryder, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson, Reece Young (12th man to be named, one to be omitted)

Surely Steve Smith must be the 12th man in the Aus A side. His bowling is worse than White's and he's a long way off being able to bat at Test level. The others bar Warner at least all have some pretension to Test class.

I wouldn't get too excited about this. It is a very wet day in Brisbane & there is a fair chance the rain will hang around for a few days. It could be a complete washout.

Oops. It looks like the weather is much better at AB Field than in WideWallyWorld. New Zealand batting after being sent in. Currently 0/24.

And McCullum is going apeshit. 46* off 40 out of the current opening stand of 0-60.

0/102 - little Mitch has figures that Big Mitch would be familiar with.

none of the bowlers are making a case for their selection...what are the odds Stevie Nix will get a hatful after the snoozies reach 300 and gets bigged up by the dubber press for selection in the first test?

Fark, hopefully it's a road at AB stadium and they serve up the usual greeny at the Gabba.

4/290 at stumps. Patto has taken two but has been expensive. Milf is probably the best of the wicket takers. Beer has been economical but not looked like taking a wicket. Mukka seems to be in great form & Taylor is looking ominous. Day two will be the decider i think.

If the weather moves south in a hurry the Kiwis should declare first thing.

wonder of WW has decided to watch the match..look forward to his reports

the little champ field is small and the pitch is usually a road...so I am thinking we do not have much to worry about ...

saw the footage on the news last night. They didn't seem to have anyone at long on or off. I suppose that only stopped him hitting them into the second's shop over the road.
