7 scores of 50 without a century so far. Bit of a way to go to beat the Test record for highest number of 50s in a match without a century being scored:
3rd Test, SA v.Eng., Kingsmead, 21-25 Jan. 1928

Much as I think Sid is a trier, he did a lot with the bat in the first innings. Too much to hope for a repeat performance...

It can take time to adjust to Australian pitches, Swann wasn't great in the first ashes test last year. Ashwin was very good in his first three tests and is a very consistent wicket taker in Ranji cricket as well.

Well, you would have liked what you saw yesterday, too, regardless of the figures, IF you'd seen it. Same as today. You cannot go on the mainland papers and commentators.

Any reasonable judge would acknowledge that I was absolutely correct. If you bend it and attack the poles you will be successful. Hilf managed that, by and large this morning. The ball he took Dravid with is the best I can remember from him. Great length, tailed in and took the top of off. More of that thanks Hilf. Well bowled him.
It appears that we finally have a bowling coach that knows a bit about bowling. The change in the length being bowled by the Australian quicks is astonishing.
I liked what I saw today and not because of the number of wickets he took. What he bowled (regardless of who was holding the bat) was Test class.

Red wrote:AB said on 'Inside Cricket' that he thinks of the older guys will go but he's not sure whether it will be Hussey or Punter. Not sure I'd be that sanguine. Gideon Haigh said tonight on radio that he was speaking to Inverarity the other day and he holds Ponting in very high esteem and considers that he's vitally important to the team. Ironically it's been the youngsters by and large pulling out the big performances. Certainly today the experienced guys let them down.
Watson and Marsh are also no certainties to be fit.
Marsh might be wishing he hadn't been

Did not see those Test games. I am concerned with his lack of bite in this game re the Aussie top and middle order. Butt he could prove me wrong.

Yeah, but lets see how he carries on. FWIW, I think he looks physically more up to it than a lot of young Indian pacers I have seen over the past few years.

It didn't work but Clark sees an appetite for the fight in Lyon. Someone to defend whilst Hussey scores 30. I like captains who innovate.
