- Spoiler:
- Heschelle was supposed to die in the S2 finale, so he's been on borrowed time for a while. They've already cut the CGI budget used for his stump by magicking up a prosthetic limb for him to save on production costs.
I always think Beth is about to die in every scene she's in, so pointless has her character been thus far. Also, the actress is never listed as a series regular.
I think it's safe to assume the majority - if not all - of the Woodbury exiles will be toast by mid-season.
Re: The Walking Dead
Just. I'm hanging on. That was a reasonable reveal. I accept.skully wrote:He was motivated.

At least the fact that Carol was the dragger and burner and NOT the Guv will keep Dello in the game.

- Spoiler:
Tyreese gets all fighty over Karen’s burnt body, but gets it back in spades after biffing Rick, who wigs out & kicks & punches the bejezus out of him.
The flu epidemic is spreading through the jail. Sasha is toast as is Dr. Subramanian. Glen has begun to get the sweats too. Hershel says it’s time to raid a 50 mile away vet clinic, with animal dope largely the same as human.
Rick tries to make peace with Tyreese, but he wants justice for Karen. Glen & the other coughing pre-zombies get quarantined, including Carol’s new kids. Maggie agonises to Beth about Glen being crook, but little sister says suck it up – no sooking allowed.
Hershel hits on an idea to brew some elderberry tea, a natural flu remedy, so heads out to a crop in the words. Carl insists on escorting him. Hershel’s crop seems to be near Crazy Irish zombie chick’s tent from ep 1. Carl wants to pop her shuffling arse, but Hershel says there’s no need & they wander back to the jail.
On the other side of a glass wall, Tyreese tries to keep sick Sasha’s hopes up but she’s crook as.
Daryl, Michonne & Bob head out to get horse antibiotics in the hope that they’ll slow the epidemic & cure the stronger folk. Tyreese joins them after vowing to help Sasha.
Maggie & Rick gets uppity with Hershel but he says he is going to try to help the sick folk with his tea brew. They back off.
Rick investigates the body dragging & burning scene. I think he reckons Carol did it.
Carol rigs up a distraction for the walkers so she can go out & de-mud the water suction line. But they notice her at the bridge & shuffle on over. Rick has to come to her rescue.
The Daryl-Michonne team on their way to the vet clinic pick up a voice on the car radio but then run into a million walkers. Daryl backs up but bogs on zombie heads & guts, trapping them. They make a run for the woods. Tyreese wallows in pity & delays his run, then hacks away in a frenzy at the hoard. But he seems to be swamped as Daryl, Michonne & Bob scarper through the trees. But big-T stumbles out of bushes not far behind.
Dr. Subra coughs blood all over Hershel, so he takes off his mask & wipes his face. Hershel is now putting his faith in Daryl to get the horse drugs.
Rick fronts Carol about the fact that she’d do anything for the group. He asks if she killed and burned David & Karen. She blandly says “yes” & keeps working!!
- Spoiler:
- ... they discover - after, what, two years (?) - another untapped local pharmacy stocked with just what they need in any given moment. Then again, without these ridiculous slices of good fortune they'd all be long dead by now as common sense and reason has been in short supply from the off.

Re: The Walking Dead
S04E04 – Indifference. Slow to start but warmed up.
- Spoiler:
- Rick & Carol head out on their own mission for any local pills, and meet Sam & girlfriend in a house cornered by a walker. They seem a harmless friendly pair, so Rick & Carol agree to let them help collect stuff.
Daryl’s group has fought off some zombies to get another car. After finding a battery Daryl gets it going. They all worry about Tyreese’s weird fatalistic behaviour, & Michonne tells him so. Bob admits to Daryl that his alcoholism cost Zack his life at the mall. He brought the booze shelf down & was trapped which cost helping Zack the time he needed to escape walkers. Daryl doesn’t accept his logic.
Carol fronts Rick about his silent treatment over her stabbing & burning of Karen and David. Rick is still all wishy washy on what is right and what is not, whereas Carol is doing what’s right for the group.
Daryl’s group reaches the animal clinic, & grab as much medicine as they can carry.
Rick & Carol find a batch of tomatoes, & as they pick them they chat about lost family members. Then they notice a trail of spilled fruit & find Sam’s girlfriend being chowed down on by walkers.
Daryl’s group is fully loaded with pills but get trapped by walkers. They get cornered upstairs in a clinic building & have to jump. Bob stumbles & almost falls off a ledge & his bag hangs over the edge & is grabbed by walkers, but he refuses to let go. He frees it but the group see there’s a bottle of booze in the bag. Daryl is pissed off & goes to chuck the bottle but Bob draws his gun. Daryl breathes snot blobs of anger & nearly chucks Bob to the walkers before taking his gun.
Rick & Carol wait for Sam to return but it looks grim. Carol says too late & time to go. Rick is struggling with pragmatic cold Carol. Carol finds the car door locked. Rick drops a bombshell by telling Carol it wasn’t her decision to make to kill David & Karen, & that he fears she will do the same with Carl & Judith in a similar situation, & cuts her from the prison group. He chucks her bag to her & leaves her with a fuelled up car in a suburban street to fend for herself!! Hmm, not sure Daryl will be too chuffed. Still, probably saves Tyreese stabbing Carol.

Re: The Walking Dead
F*ck's sake, what was the point in...
- Spoiler:
- ... cutting Carol loose? Can't Rick keep a secret? In any case, he let Merle - who tried to kill Glenn and was at least a co-conspirator in the threatened rape of Maggie - join their team without too much arm bending. He was a psycho, Carol's just a bored housewife who has taken up murder as a hobby. Get her into flower arranging or something.
Don't know why Daryl's group didn't exit the clinic the same way they entered, as they appeared to encounter zero walkers. He must've had his head all full of shiny stones or something.
Re: The Walking Dead
- Spoiler:
- Maybe Carol will come back as a hardened enemy. I'm interested to see what Rick tells her buddy Daryl.

Re: The Walking Dead
S04E05 - Internment. Action aplenty.
- Spoiler:
- Hershel plays superdoc & works his prosthesis off for much of the intense episode trying to keep all the sick alive. He loses Doc Kaleb and quite a few along the way (most who died & turned and had to be skewered) but he saved Sasha and Glen, and cracks the back of the epidemic. How he didn't catch the zombie flu has got me buggered though.
Meanwhile Rick & Maggie's work to shore up the fence is continued with Carl's help after Maggie goes inside to help Hershel. But things turn to shit when the shoring posts snap and the hoard invades. So Rick and Carl man the semi-automatics and mow down a bazillion raiding walkers.
The medicine team returns, and you guessed it, Daryl's first question is "how's Carol?". Hershel tells him she's OK but to speak to Rick. Hmm, some shit might hit the fan in the next ep.
Ep ends with the Governor skulking in the woods outside the fence.

- Basically wall to wall tension. Felt sure this was Hershel's swansong and the sting in the tail would be him dying at the very end, but he's still hanging in there - and getting better at moving on one leg by the day.
Probably woofed him, now, but he's had his heroic moment.
Even the annoying kids weren't that annoying this week.
I think it's official, though: never employ Rick Grimes' Fence Fortification (and Pea Farming) company for anything. Hopeless.
Not sure I'm looking forward to the Governor's return. Now he's gone all panto super villain, it's a bit out keeping with the tone of grim reality that's underpinned the season so far.

Re: The Walking Dead
S04E06 – Live Bait. Depressing & dreary for the most part. Livened up a bit at the end.
- Spoiler:
- Flashback to the Guv’s massacring of his Woodbury townfolk on the road. Martinez & his remaining subjects hightail it in the night, leaving the crazy ex-leader on his own. He goes back & torches Woodbury, & hits the road on foot, & staggers half dead some days/weeks later into an apartment block.
This is the Guv’s story post-Woodbury. He tells his host that the “man in charge lost it”. His host is Lilly & her sister Tara (an Atlantic City police academy cadet) & family living off their dying-of-lung-cancer Dad’s haulage truck full of food. A shell of his former self, he borrows the graffitied name “Brian Heriot” that he saw in his wanderings.
He runs a few errands, kills a few walkers, & takes a shine to young Meghan (who no doubt reminds him of his daughter) who he teaches chess. Then their old man dies, & while they mourn he turns & grabs Tara. Guv smashes Dad’s head in with an oxygen tank, which horrifies the family.
He goes to leave but Lilly says they’re coming too. So Lilly, Tara & Meghan saddle up with the Guv in Dad’s food truck & hit the road. The Guv bonks Lilly. Truck breaks down. They walk. They get swamped by walkers & Meghan freezes. But she finally accepts the Guv & the 4 make a run for it.
As they flee, the Guv & Meghan fall into one of Woodbury’s walker traps. The Guv smashes the heads of several trapped biters to again save her. I think the Guv & Meghan are now inseparable. Ep goes full circle with Martinez, who abandoned the Guv at the start of the ep, showing up over the pit & saying “I’ll be damned”.

What is it with women - in movies and TV - who can't help but fall over and sprain their ankle when running away?

With Inside BJ on shortly I haven't had time to watch but have skimmed it.
- Spoiler:
- More of the Guv's adventures but good to see he's as mean as ever, after what seemed a brief bout of being Good Guv when around young Meaghan. Martinez was a bit careless in turning his back on the Guv when he had a golf stick in his hand. Methinks a Guv v Michonne showdown may be on big time.

Re: The Walking Dead
S04E07 – Dead Weight. Pretty good.
- Spoiler:
- It’s another complete Guv-fest.
Martinez fishes the Guv & Meaghan out of the walker trap, with the former telling him he’s boss & it’s his rules. Guv, Lilly, Tara & Megan get to live in a leaky caravan.
On a hunt, Martinez & the Guv’s crew happen upon a trail of headless bodies labelled “liar”, “rapist”, “murderer” that lead to a shack full of zombies. After the obligatory biters jumping out of nowhere & they walk across a floor full of bitey heads, the crew slays then all, with the Guv leading the way.
Martinez is pretty comfortable with the new additions to the group & shares some dinner drinks & laughs with them. A drunk Martinez foolishly takes the Guv up on top of a van for some friendly golf ball hitting. The Guv clubs him from behind with a 5-iron then feeds him to the walkers in the trap.
Mitch tells the group they found the remains of Martinez in the walker trap, reasoning that he fell in drunk. Pete steps up as the new leader.
On another supply hunt Pete, Mitch and the Guv come across a small group. Mitch wants to jump them & take their stuff but new leader Pete won’t have it. After finding a few manky squirrels they come back past the small group & find they’ve been attacked & food taken. Mitch is not happy.
The Guv is spooked by whoever attacked the small group & tells Lilly, Tara & Megan to pack & they flee the camp in a car in the night, but come across a group of walkers stuck in a bog blocking the only road out of the camp. Seems Martinez had not intended moving camp anytime soon.
Back at camp, the Guv tells Lilly he’s “surviving” as he leaves the van. He knifes Pete in his van then gives Mitch an ultimatum, join him or die. Mitch joins him. Bad Guv is back in charge. They agree on a story that Pete died on a supply run, then the Guv chucks his weighted down body into the pond.
The Guv marshals the group to build a perimeter fence around camp. The Guv is keen to move on to a better location, then he & Lilly have a tender moment when she looks at his eye scar. As Megan plays “it” will Tara, the young’un is jumped by a biter. Tara can’t drag it off her but the Guv shoots it in a nick of time in front of the gathering group, cementing his place as the alpha male.
In an odd moment at the pond, the Guv stares blankly down at walker Pete, who turned biter underwater but can only flail around on the end of his anchor. Maybe his leg will come off, he’ll pop to the surface & jump the Guv in a later episode!!
The Guv goes on a solo scouting mission in a truck (did he de-bog-walker the road out of camp??). Surprise, surprise, he walks through a clearing to be overlooking the jail, where Rick & Carl are tending the vege garden. He ponders shooting them from a distance before being distracted by a nearby noise. It’s Hershel & Michonne out on a run.
The ep ends with the Guv training his gun on a grinning, unaware Michonne.
As suspected, the Rick crew v Guv battle will be back on in earnest. The shorts at the end of the ep certainly suggest so.
