I chuckled at this story. Everyone knows that there is a designated Dirt Digger in every Govt and Opposition. Still, Tony is admirably maintaining the rage.

The abusers (many of who don't sign their name) are probably pretending to have "Christian" values. Small minded qunts.

http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/mps-abused-over-gay-marriage-20120609-202s2.html

Shameful but lets face it, the pro Gay lobby has used the same tactics. They continually use political correctness to shut down any debate over the subject by using intimidation, threats & bullying against anyone with the temerity to have a different opinion to them.
Whether they acknowledge it or not there are millions of people whose cultural or religious beliefs do not agree with same sex marriage and they have just as much right to an opinion as the gays.

Here are some quotes from last year's rally against gay marriage. These anti-gay marriage advocates are entitled to their opinions, but I think these quotes show they are their own worst enemy.

"There is no greater evil in the world than supporters of homosexual marriage."- Rebecca Hagelin, American Conservative

"Gay is one of the most beautiful words … no-one should have the right to take that word off us. Truly this proposition deserves to be laughed at and ridiculed. It doesn’t serve any serious treatment.”-Bob Katter, Independent MP

"This is a destruction of marriage, not simply a redefinition."- Kevin Andrews, Liberal MP

"We know that the best protection for those girls is that they get themselves into a secure relationship with a loving husband and I want that to happen for them. I don't want any legislator to take that right away from me."
-Barnaby Joyce, National MP (talking about his daughters)

"My electorate accepts that all people are equal, but my electorate also accepts, in fact rejects, that not all relationships are equal."
- John Murphy, Labor MP

But to clarify my thoughts. While they are entitled to their opinion, the problem is their decision to voice it is very damaging. I've seen too many people's lives made a misery by the likes of these people for me to give them a free pass. And if calling them out on their crap makes me a bully then I don't really give a s--t!

Granted

but it can also be excellent for a laugh

Independent Torbay to take on Windsor for Nationals

http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/independent-torbay-to-take-on-windsor-for-nationals-20120614-20d4a.html

From the article:

Mr Torbay said there was nothing personal against Mr Windsor, who he has known for a long time. But he believed the independent brand has been damaged by Mr Windsor and Rob Oakeshott siding with Labor to form minority government.
''They've really become advocates for the Labor government, as opposed to independents assessing matters and voting on those issues accordingly,'' he said.

So, he's pissed off with Windsor for voting too often with the ALP and therefore damaging the "Independent brand" so his solution to this moral outrage is to officially join a mainstream party.

Tories are weird.

If the voters in those electorates wanted a conservative government then they should have voted for the Coalition in 2010

Sage.

And let's face it, if the Coalition had won, those electorates would have remained in the backwaters of Australian political handouts. Frankly, Windsor and Oakey should be seen as heroes by the locals.

twas a pity that Brough lost his seat initially and that he is behaving in such a poorly judged manner at the moment...still it is Chipland where he is trying to get a seat ....Brough was one of the few vaguely competent Ministers in the ljh junta...he may not get up now...The steaming pile of lies in the Grech affair were pretty much laid at the door of the loony Treasury official and the libs managed to teflon their way out of it...don't know if this will be the case with slipper and poodle affair

I'm sorry but that statement is somewhat hypocritical. You immediately take the position that you are right & the rest of the world is wrong. i.e. everyone is entitled to an opinion but the Gays opinion is worth a bit more than anyone else's.
I don't know what its like where you live but here if anyone voices anything but the gay line they are immediately hit with an avalanche of Homophobic & redneck accusations by gay activists, hence my comment regarding the use of PC to stifle any debate. You are never going to get 100% of acceptance on the issue of Gay Marriage & its time the Gays accepted this. Currently it seems to me that they are guilty of the same intolerance that they used to accuse society of being against them.

BD, I think formal religion is a massive con but everyone has the opportunity to attend church if they choose. There are no bars to participation.

People are free to think what they like about homosexuality but those thoughts should not be allowed to limit the choices available to a particular sector of the community.

I am against gay marriage. I am not a red neck - just do not believe that marriage is a unity between same sex couples. Call it what they may, and let the gay couples live in peace without persecution or prejudice - but to me, as a debate I am a no. It has nothing to do with religious beliefs - just my value system. Sorry if it offends anyone.

But does that necessarily mean that you want to deprive others of the right? I mean, you can disagree with it but not feel that strongly that you would prevent someone who felt very strongly the other way their ability to get married as well.
