England v Australia, 2nd ODI, The Oval, 1 July, 2012
An excellent chance for Aus to take a 0-2 trail in the series.

Jimmy Jams is injured. Which can only mean the return of Jade Dernbach. Which can only mean an easy Aussie victory.
Or maybe the rain will save us.

I'd get Meaker in for the injured Jimmy. I suspect this Aus team doesn't fancy pace. David Hussey gave a clue yesterday as to why he hasn't played test cricket- He was playing Finn from square leg at times.

The whole England-being-SA A- debate is nonsense.Dello wrote:Jimmy Jams is injured. Which can only mean the return of Jade Dernbach. Which can only mean an easy Aussie victory.

Although you take quality players such as KP, you also help us by taking our dross (Kieswetter, Dernbach etc).

I'm sure I read a report a few years back about how South Africa had been trying desperately to lure Kieswetter back to the Motherland. Let's face it- Kieswetter would be the next in line to replace Boucher right now were he still qualified to play for South Africa.

Nah. Kuhn, van Wyk and de Kock would all be ahead of him.Henry wrote:I'm sure I read a report a few years back about how South Africa had been trying desperately to lure Kieswetter back to the Motherland. Perhaps. How about Rikki Wessels? Is he qualified to play for South Africa? I'm not sure even he knows which Country he's qualified to play for.....

I'm glad Riki is starting to fulfil his potential, even if it's not at Northants - I always thought he had something about him - as mentioned time and again on here. Of course, it brought cries of parochialism, but no - he's playing for the biggest bunch of tossers now and I still am saying this lad can succeed.

He's on an Aussie passport. His father hawked his arse around all the SA franchises a couple of years back when he was chucked out of CC. They all told him to get farked.
De Kock is hopefully next in line.

He reminds me a bit of a young Boucher in his style. Looks a bit like him as well.

Besides, SA wouldn't let him play anyway for the same reason Rudolph wasn't considered for selection while ripping up the CC.taipan wrote:Henry wrote:Perhaps. How about Rikki Wessels? Is he qualified to play for South Africa? I'm not sure even he knows which Country he's qualified to play for.....

De Kock is our next permanent keeper imo (or else there is some other young keeping prodigy, can't remember his name though). However, he isn't ready yet - someone like van Wyk or Kuhn should be a transition keeper imho.

Boucher was 20 when he debuted.

That was due to us struggling in the keeping department iirc. Richardson had just retired and we had no better option.taipan wrote:Boucher was 20 when he debuted.

Forest to replace Smith.....the only obvious change to make for this game.

Aye - WTF is Smith picked if he isn't going to bowl?
But with Forrest, Bailey and Hussey in our top 6 it just goes to show how far we've fallen.

The Snoozies v Windies T20 last night in Florida didn't even get a thread from what I can tell.
Anyone know what the crowd was?

I watched it. I don't know the actual attendance, but it was reasonably well attended.

One would assume there is a large Windies expat community in Florida.
Re: England v Australia, 2nd ODI, The Oval, 1 July, 2012
Aye, TBH for the first half hour I wondered which Windies ground it was because I don't remember anything being scheduled.
