Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
Other than the 10 to 20% swing against the Pinkos in the Council Elections, the other good thing to come out of them was the decimation of those hateful Greens. Look for Anthony Albanese to turn up the heat on the Greens in an effort to distance the Pinkos from the stinky tree-huggers.

Can Do sacks another 14,000 public servants in the Qld Budget AND announces an increase in coal mining royalties.
He's certainly doing his best to get Gillard re-elected.

Actually - Anne sealed the deal in Qld regarding the next federal election.

Robbie recants...
"I make no excuse and offer my sincere apologies," he said in a statement released today. "I can only say that I have learnt a lot in recent days and I hope that everyone in the community can learn about the pain that we can cause through such comments."
Farah said that he had written to Ms Gillard to apologise for any hurt he caused her. "At the time I did think about what I had done and removed the 'tweet' soon after posting it but that of course doesn't repair the damage," he said.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
looks like burning Joh effigies will soon be back in vogue as well the toasting of those silly enough to do so...
.....here is what a friend in Brisbane sent me today after seeing a a big anti Can Do rally in Chip Central
Just got back from a big, noisy rally in front of Parliament House.
Apart from getting on the news not sure what it will achieve.
These guys probably think, the bigger the mob, the better the job they are doing.
This is war. They are bashing the unions. Bashing the PS. Just like the olden (halcyon) days.
The really sad thing is these boorish, callous knuckleheads (he means the govt) still have a lot of support out there. The comments threads in the online publications contain some very disturbing content. There are some seriously twisted b******s out there. More pecuniary envy and self interest. The Joh worshipers have come out and they're loud and proud.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
The Farah glass houses affair sums up the whole sorry nature of "look at me, look at me, I just took a dump" Twitter. If one uses the vile thing and one has 10s to 100s of 1000s of followers, you'd think Tweeters would use an ounce of "hang on a minute" commonsense before firing off their irretrievable arrows. Equally, they should realise they are open targets for trolls.
Farah had realised his folly at the time and deleted the offending tweet. A cyber guru (who was on talkback this arvo bigging herself up - but doing it in the guise of "people should beware that nothing is ever really deleted from cyberspace") had a vague recollection of the Farah "noose" tweet (or rather friends of hers did), dug it from deleted cyberspace and reported it to numerous journos.

And I notice that it's one DK Gilly's birthday today. My next-door neighbour's kid turned 18. It was 4 years ago or so that a bunch of heroes in here slagged the poor newbie off and scared the bejeezus out of his old man. Ironic, in this week of cyber bullying.

He's a big boy now. Taller than me, babe of a girlfriend (yes, I have perved at her through drawn curtains as she swims in the neighbour's pool ), just about to finish High School.
