He should only be an embarrassment to his supporters. I'm not one of them.

A repetition of the strategy that saw him through the chaff bag brouhaha.
I find it incredible that a bloke who routinely passed off paid advertising as editorial comment can ever label anyone a liar and carry on without check.
Grub!

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
Politicians on all sides have regularly made the mistake of overestimating Jones.
The only people who ever listen to him are only ever going to vote for one party. Why bother.
Frankly, the ALP are better off with him still on air because everytime he says something crazy they can link him to the Libs.

indeed...the ALP should argue that funds raised at the Young Libs auction are tainted and should not go into the Lib coffers - instead the funds should go to the Smith family or another charity

Actually, I do think the ALP are overplaying their hand on this. The actions speak for themselves without the ALP trying to so bluntly link it to Abbott and the Libs. Ultimately, it could be seen that the ALP are trying to politically exploit an aspect of Gillard's father's death which is almost as bad as what Jones did. As it is, everytime than a Lib of Nat goes onto the Jones show from now, people will make the link.

Yes I agree that the listeners of him (who eat out of their own colostomy bags) are only really likely to vote conservative.
However it matters because the listeners can influence their friends who may genuinely be swinging voters.
The grey vote is hugely important. And having this red neck preach to them is actually doing damage to the ALP.

I can assure you young scallywag that not all wearers of the bag are feelthy blue, feelthy green or feelthy ALP...many of us support a revolution led by the grey pamthers (of course I would be commissar for ageing, the NSP, tax policy and family planning)...the bag is a badge of honour...as well as being a convenient convenience

I wish you're right but I'd reckon that a good portion of the middle 40% absorb his propoganda on a regular basis.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
A LOCAL council crew has become a social media sensation after it was exposed using a lawnmower on fake grass.
The Townsville City Council crew was this week photographed by motorists mowing artificial grass on a median strip, the Townsville Bulletin reports
The images sparked an angry response on social media, with residents arguing it was proof the council was wasting ratepayers' money.
When the matter was raised with the council, a spokeswoman said the contractors were not mowing the grass.
Rather the crew were cleaning the fake turf to remove cigarette butts following a request by a local, she said.
''The actual contractors who have done that work, they didn't give us the heads-up they were going to be using a mower," the spokeswoman said.
"There has been a major problem there with people littering and throwing their cigarette butts out.
"So they're not actually mowing grass, as much as people would have laughed and pointed it out, they were using it as a vacuum to suck up the butts."
A staff member from the nearby Supercheap Auto Hermit Park said the clean-up crew had supplied many belly laughs for colleagues and customers.
"We've all been getting a great laugh out of it," she said.
"They've been doing it a couple of times."
The council spokeswoman said the clean-up crew had been asked to consider other options when it came to cleaning the artificial grass.
"It does look ridiculous," she said.

I thought Roxon looked a right twat in condemning Jones and then trying to link it to Abbott, particularly after the past month of attempted Pinko smearing of Abbott via his alleged university past madness. Pinkos are idiots. Let Jones make a dick of himself in silence, you twits.

Its obvious the Labor spin doctors are working overtime on this. To read some of the comments in the national rags you'd think Jones was a Liberal Minister instead of a private citizen who is entitled to an opinion however objectionable.
