Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (VI)
If the Libs lose the next Feral Election because Abbott is the Opposition Leader, it'll be the biggest fark up since the Libs lost the unlosable NSW State Election because they put Neville Nobody Peter Debnam (yes I had to look it up as I couldn't remember his name) in charge instead of Fatty O'Barrell.
I wonder what Turnbull did to earn the ire of the Libs?

The voters will deserve whoever they vote in to power. If it happens to be the current government again, then it's time to be very, very afraid of the people you surround yourself with every day- They vote.

He said it wasn't impossible particularly given Abbott's unpopularity and the "written in blood" pledge which is now looking faintly ridiculous.

I'm looking forward to BD's reaction when Abbott suggests this after the next Tozzie election:

Nooooooo!!! it must be a misquote. Any coalition with the Greens is poison & doomed to failure.

{snigger @ BD}
I'm sure it won't happen.

Looks like Roy Morgan have done their most recent poll in a number of University Arts Faculty staff rooms. ALP ahead 50.5/49.5 on 2PP basis.

Would you rather than they don't try and get a surplus?

Yes. I seem to recall you lecturing us all about a "surplus" largely being only a "book thing" when some of had the temerity to suggest that the only reason the Pinkos managed to keep Aus's head above financial water in the wake of the GFC was the massive surplus they inherited from the Libs (allowing the most wasteful (and deadly) spendathon in Australian history). You gave us plenty of phurts.
Plenty of economists are saying the Goose's obsession with a micro moot hair surplus is window dressing and means little. I guess to his credit, he is trying to avoid looking as big a lair as his boss.

All this surplus talk is ridiculous. I haven't heard of anything so over-rated since Philip Hughes back in 2009.

What Trev said. The Goose is simply looking to avoid egg on his face. Meanwhile, the economy is still so shaky that another rate cut is highly likely, putting a large chunk of the population (yes, those who live on their savings and not bludge a Govt pension) deeper in the shit.
What a bunch of financial frauds.
What a bunch of financial frauds.

I agree. I just laugh at the Tories who complained about the massive deficit and now continue to complain now that Swan is trying to do what they want.

The Goose indicating how far up his clacker the Vulture will shove the strap-on if he doesn't get his wafer thin surplus.

Won't lower rates decrease inflation?

Even with the current rates (3.25%), inflation in Aus is only 1.3%. The high Australian dollar has a lot to do with the low inflation, and interest rate cuts only seem to have a brief impact on the dollar, before investors remember how f*cked up the rest of the World is and continue to pile money into the Aussie.
