tricycle wrote:BCCI will investigate why India lost the test. Really.
Whats to investigate? Out of form and out of touch with reality prima donnas were chosen on past reputations instead of a solid performing young team. SRT, Dhobi, Shitwag, Ghati and Bhajji shouldn't have been anywhere near this side. SRT should have been pushed sooner. The rest need a full season of domestic cricket to get some idea of what tests are about.
So did Shitwag forget to check the videos of his past performances ahead of this test?
This series has also brought a reality check on Kohli.
These stupid team must look at SA how to play for pride and self respect.....

And so it is cast in stone now. Those international players who have lost form, place in side, or have suffered being ignored will shine bright again in India or against India...LOL

Sachin Tendulkar's streak of low scores might have raised a question mark over his future but senior BCCI official and IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla came out in support of the senior batsman saying one needs to look at his "colossal record" before making any comment.
That really explains it all doesn't it? This satisfaction at 'records'? So why are the likes of Kapil Dev and Gavaskar still not playing you fcuking twat? Why nudge out Laxman who has saved and win more tests from defeat than any Indian in history?
No wait, this is the IPL chairman defending the indefensible.....

How well I remember the gnashing of teeth five years ago when I suggested Laxman was more valuble than SRT

Certainly wasn't from me at least. I was always vocal about how badly he was treated, especially the way when even someone like Dravid dropped him for the Mumbai test against England in 2005 which we lost again, playing '5 bowlers'.

I think it is a foregone conclusion that Sachin will play until he is finished playing.

So he'll be wheeled out in a wheelchair, pissing and shitting himself uncontrollably, his nurse guiding him to the crease and helping him take his guard, the crowd going wild as he celebrates his 300th test match?
Horrie could relate.

Nicely done, England.
Very nice.
Get shot of Broad and Bairstow and they might have a team where more than four players contribute in the next match.

At least Bairstow is good at short leg.

Well done to England. Panesar and Pietersen destroying everything in their path. I still think Cook's continued form underpinned KP's flamboyance and style against the spinners.
Patel out, Bell in for Eden Gardens. That's the only change I can forsee.

Re: India v England, 2nd Test, Mumbai, 23-27 November, 2012
I was there when we were getting thrashed, just not forumming at the time.
Eden Gardens should technically be an absolute bear pit for England - if sold out. 100,000 people cheering home the mighty Indians after their victory in the first test and the subsequent washout of the second test which never happened.
India are 1-0 up in the series with two more to play. The BCCI welcome Sachin to the ground after he made his second triple century of the series in Ahmedabad and Mumbai (before rain washed out the play after the first session - a "quick fire triple century for Sachin in the first session broke every record ever made, ever")
KP gets patronised in the media for being "out of touch with reality" "his form should be questioned" "he's past his prime" and Alastair Cook gets called "Michael Vaughan mk.II". The England team are in disarray as they arrive in Calcutta to face the best test side in the world. Bell is out injured after slipping on a golf ball, Monty Panesar's jumping leg is twisted after he loses his cue card of "putting the balls in the right area" and Stuart Broad finds form, but doesn't tell anyone about it.
Then Srinivasan wakes up. See's Monty clapping in Mumbai. Switches over to see how Bangladesh are doing....he proceeds to throw his TV out of the window.

You left no room on your middle-of-the-night Union-Jack-bedecked open-top bus tour, Trev.
All those crates of Spitfire beer you suddenly ordered, lying around everywhere .... nobody could get through the doors.
Can't blame you celebrating with such fervour, though, in your daytime. "Living your life", as you said recently about someone or other absent from the Forum for a bit of shuteye.

Surely Bell will reclaim his "rightful" place at Bairstow's expense.

Well, it seems it's not ALWAYS seam that wins in India, as some insist.
Maybe there IS an argument after all for playing to your strengths, and the players in form.
Pity they are unlikely to give Bairstow a second chance, then. He gave himself out early this time, but racked up a ton in the warm-up game. While Belly has looked and played poor since he set foot in Indiahhhh.
If JB scored average 20s, he'd still probs be a better bet at the mo than IRB.
But you never know, Ron might just sweep back into the team and eclipse Cook and Pietersen, make Clarke look like a struggling dilettante.

AYE! I was up for the entire day that mattered - the previous one. I'm still a little ill from my bout of lamborghini and had a tough day ahead at workage. I was there when England were getting dicked in the last Test. I feel no shame. I like to watch a battle - this was the procession that should never have been in doubt. I ent no jive turkey...

Well since this is a direct dig at me although Petey boy will insist otherwise, the facts speak otherwise. England are playing a particularly poor Indian team. Does anyone really think that Swann and Panesar would have ripped through an Indian middle order of Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman and Gamguly In their prime?

I'm sure they'd have struggled against Barry Richards and Graeme Pollock as well, but hey ho, we weren't playing them.
But here's a little food for thought.
India are averaging 38 per wicket at home this year which isn't the worst.
Swanesar still took 19 wickets betwixt them, which is some achievement.
It is one of our strengths - spin bowling. We have spin bowlers that can compete with anyone in the world ATM. They extract an inordinate amount of turn and, possibly to a lesser extent, bounce.
Graeme Swann said it was, by a country mile, the pitch most condusive to his bowling that he'd played on in Test cricket. He said with a wry smile, and a smiling nod in agreement from Monty, it reminded him of some of the Northants pitches they used to get. They used to decimate teams including top stars - I've seen it. They're deadly on those pitches.
