Quite correct that the best player should earn the most. Figures don't lie.

Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
Quickie: The other day Scotland's Kyle Coetzer top-scored with 156 in a losing effort. Bangladesh's top scorer was Tamim Iqbal with 95. A difference of 61 runs.
It's 2nd time Coetzer has top-scored with a ton in a losing side (133 - Scot lost to Afghanistan - top scorer Mohammad Nabi 51 at Shahjah in March 2013 - diff = 82, the 2nd biggest HS +ve differential in a losing effort).
Who holds the record for the largest HS +ve differential in a losing JAMODI effort?

Quickie: Martin Guptill (237*) made 60.31% of the Snoozy total (6-393) in the QF v Ganjas. Who holds the record for the highest % of the team total in JAMODIs?

Didn't Robin Smith have a higher % than that?

Or indeed Rohit.

Yes.horace wrote:is it a 200+ team total?
Nup. His 60.73% (116* of 191 v NZ at Eden Park in March 2000) was better than Guptill's but well short of the best.tricycle wrote:Martyn?
Quite a few players had a higher % than Guptill's 60.31%. I'm after the best (in a completed innings of the full quota).JGK wrote:skully wrote:Quickie: Martin Guptill (237*) made 60.31% of the Snoozy total (6-393) in the QF v Ganjas. Rohit's is up there (65.35% - 264 of 5-404 v SL in Kolkata in Nov 13) but not the best.JGK wrote:JGK wrote:skully wrote:Quickie: Martin Guptill (237*) made 60.31% of the Snoozy total (6-393) in the QF v Ganjas. Who holds the record for the highest % of the team total in JAMODIs?

Mighty indeed. His 69.49% - IVA Richards 189 WI (272-9) v Eng, Manchester, May 31, 1984 is the most monopolising JAMODI innings ever.

Colin Munro scored his 200 in 133 balls yesterday. I only know that Shastri, of all people, has a 123 ball double century. Any other instances of faster FC doubles?

I'm not sure Shastri's record has been bettered. I know Gilbert Jessop made 2 very fast double hundreds in around the same time duration that Shastri did, but there were so many more balls bowled per hour back in Jessop's day (1900s). Clive Lloyd's made 201* for touring WIs v Glamorgan in 1976 but took longer in time than Shastri, so presumably more balls as well. Trumper's made a fast 293 v Canterbury (NZ) for Aus prior to WWI, but I reckon he must've faced way more than 123 balls for his double (via the same reasoning as per Jessop).
I'd reckon Munro's is probably the 2nd fastest (in balls) double hundred in FC cricket after Shastri's.

Aye. His 23 sixes easily surpasses the previous FC record of 16 in an innings jointly held by 4 players (including Andrew Symonds).

a stupendous effort... I once hit 3 sixes on a microdot sized ground against a spud gun attack and thought I was ace (btw one was a top edge over the keeper)
