Merlin seems like one of those bitter anti United fans, you get that when you are that successful and that good, it's all good i've come accross many people like that. Wink

I don't know why you keep saying over rated stars "prima donnas" you are talking like they have never won anything, as i recall United are the champions of England, hmm come on merlin look in the mirror and say "Manchester United are the Champions of England", ouch that must hurt. Wink

Anyway theres a big chance of Arse gettin knocked out of the Euro cup and FA (United have the advantage since playing at home imo), which leaves the EPL which can go to any of the big three, despite all your bleatings about beautiful football "we are so great" you might end up winning nothing, and you know what the same exuses will come out of the woodwork about "the team is still young, give us another year" yeah right.

And about United's youth policy, what utter tripe my friend, can't remember Arse producing great players like Giggs, Scholes, Beckham etc let alone any english ones.

And i don't understand what's wrong with spending money?

If you can afford the best players why not buy, imo it's ok splashing out 30-40 mil every year on two/three good players it's when you go ott and start spending millions and millions on 5/6 players is when you think hang on this ain't right.

nothing wrong with it but success comes easier/is expected when you spend that sort of money. look at chelsea, they got no respect from the neutral football fan for their 2 titles under mourinho.

not all teams can spend that much so it reemphasises the gulf between the top clubs and the rest. wenger on the other hand has probably spent less than the likes of newcastle, spurs and man city let alone manure, liverpool and chelsea last few seasons.

Not bitter at all Mak - so no reason for you to harp on about it mate! Wink

I just get hacked off with "lucky Arsenal" and "they won't stack up" and they "they always play-act" crap from the Scots git,
when all along he is acknowledged as the biggest protagonist for sticking it up others!!
His boys can never do anything wrong ... yeah, like!!!

If MU were the last survivors in Europe, I'd be up there cheering them on against other teams - rest assured.
And yes, MU have quality players - but so do Arsenal (at a far less cost) - but it's nice to know that the Gunners are
UK privately owned; in lesser debt than the openly quoted US owned MU; and yet, without overspending like MU,
can still produce quality breathtaking football and are not "write offs" as Ferguson described them after last season!

One word ... if MU over the next few years, fail to maintain their success rate, you watch their US owners run for the hills.
Unlike Chelsea, whose owner actually has $13 billion, and Arsenal, whose boards combined wealth exceed $8 billion,
MU's Glazers companies are strockmarket controlled ... and right now, the massive loan they took out to buy MU
looks extremely burdensome - as do Liverpool's dynamic duo's!
United need their successes more than anything - hence their need for quick fixes with expensive buys like Hargreaves FFS!

But ... to each his own I guess, and I'd much rather the quiet and dignified Wenger to the foul mouthed Scot's git!

You can't polish a turd.

Newcastle had crap players before Keegan took over, and he hasn't signed any since then, so I think his only ambition this season must be to keep them up.

Then blow the budget over the summer.

You can't really accuse United of not investing in youth. Until recently anyway.
Nearly all of those are over 30 now. Where's the next crop of youngsters?

They do invest in youth, but by spending huge sums of money on the best young players that other clubs have developed. Their own academy seems to produce virtually nothing these days (their Carling Cup team wasn't even good enough to beat Coventry) and a productive youth system can save hundreds of millions in transfer fees.

Come on Merlin it's standard procedure for Fergie and Wenger (who is just as bad) to slag each other off, but they only do it because they fear and respect each other.

And i don't see United ever going bust if the Americans go out someone else will come in, i read on the BBC somewhere United made the most profit out of all the clubs in the world this year and i don't think that will change for a long time.

Anyway about Arse i think they are a fabulous team and i too also love to watch them play, unlike you i dont have bitter hatred against other teams! I'm happy to be witnessing one of the best title races in a long time, whoever wins will be worthy winners.

Who cares what the neutrals think! i'm sure their fans did not give a damn and i'm sure you would not either if Arsenal won the EPL twice on the trot, i don't agree with them buying a new team every year but they still achieved something great.

I don't think you can blame the apparent lack of youth development at just United's door. Hardly any clubs are bringing through their own players of much worth. I think the days of West Ham having Ferdinand, Lampard, Carrick, Cole and Defoe all coming through their system at once are probably gone.

The pool of youth talent in this country isn't anything like as big as some would have you believe. If there were all these brilliant kids who just weren't getting a chance at the big clubs in England, why aren't they being snapped up by French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese clubs for next-to-nothing? It's because they don't exist. The current crop of English players coming through are the best there is. Depressing as it might sound, that's just the bottom line.

Peter Hill-Wood agrees with me.

Surely it's a lot to do with them being overpriced as soon as they show any promise and the fact that the English game pays better and has a bigger professional league structure than any other country in Europe? If England couldn't pay top dollar and there were far better career prospects outside of premiership/championship /league one & two you'd see quite an exodus. In reality there's similar levels of raw talent in every major European nation and anything else is hysterical sunday trousers. We lack a bit of sophistication and technical prowess in our game but make up for it with mindless running, aggression and skiploads of cash.

Not EPL I know, but, is anyone watching the Africa Cup Of Nations? The refs are absolutely fantastic. Card happy they most certainly aint. From what I've seen so far the only things to warrant a yellow card are beheading by machette and dissent.

Btw, without 'googling', can anybody guess how many points Derby have accumulated from the 45 on offer during their last 15 games?
