Lara Lara Laughs wrote:Forgetting the defensive stuff for a moment I'd be willing to say that he's the closest thing to Zidane in the game at the moment. His passing and vision are unbelievable. And I love the way he makes up for his lack of reach and height by just being balletically beautiful and brilliantly good.
Well, I'm not going to wax that lyrical about him. But yeah, he's damn quality. Wouldn't compare him to the ATG.
Re: The EPL thread (II)
I'd just like to add that I thought England were predictably ordinary tonight.
Wes Brown - all kinds of shite.
Ashley Cole - what a c*nt.
Gareth Barry - for a guy supposedly picked ahead of Hargreaves for his passing, smacked the ball rubbishly out of reach/play a stupid amount of times (when he wasn't falling over his own feet).
Gerrard - Somehow man of the match in spite of being anonymous for two-thirds of the game and spraying his Hollywood turds all over the place.
Rooney - did all right, but doesn't look himself of late. Looks like his brain knows what he's trying to do, but his body is just not responding properly. A bit clumsy and heavy with his touch. Still better than yesterday's man Michael Owen.
It was somehow fitting that two of the more mediocre performers, Jenas and Wright-Phillips should score the goals. A goal and nothing else aside from giving the ball away - if that was Frank Lampard, it would've been a world class performance.
Bentley was neat and tidy, he's a decent little player. And Joe Cole played well - but he's still a bit of a disappointment, considering what a bastard good player he was as a junior.

Re: The EPL thread (II)
Apart from your Lampard bullshit, something you're completely about, I broadly agree. Bentley was good. So was Joe Cole. I thought Gerrard was alright for a change. Played a part in both goals.
There was no movement and players did not look comfortable in the positions they were playing in the first half.
Also in the first half no-one supported Rooney who, let's be honest, doesn't like standing down the middle and likes to get involved. Everybody appreciates what he does but he probably does too much work.
I think we look better with Peter Crouch and possibly Rooney off him. We created more chances in the second half and it was the introduction of Crouch that changed it.
Overall, it was a hit and miss performance.
There's not a lot we can change. You have got John Terry to come back and a couple more are injured but on the whole it's basically the same squad we have had for the last couple of years
It's about getting the system right where we can affect games.
If we were playing decent opposition they would have scored a few goals. There is a lot of work to be done.

I didn't disagree with most of that, though only caught 'flicks' of live and a bitta highlights.
Vehemently contest his uber-bitchy 'Yesterdays man' boo-hockey about Mick Owen. He's just a crock. His calibre got us close to the Champs this year.

Got to agree about Barry.
Hargreaves is twice the player at what he does than Barry is, was he injured/suspended?

Don't think he's really match fit, he plays one game for United then skips the next with a new injury, they should give the guy a good lay off, when he's fit and firing he's an English version of Gattuso.

He's not been right (Hargreaves) since United signed him. Tendonitis of the knee, I believe, which they're having to manage for now, rather than send him under the knife.

Indeed. How Mr Jittery Man gets to wear an England shirt I'll never know. He reminds me of one of those poncy dressage horses allus tip tappying around on it's toes. The lad couldn't trap a bag of cement and his first touch and awareness are so bad he's always playing catch up, get rid! As for his hair, farking hell.

Re: The EPL thread (II)
In defence of Wesley - he's a centre-back having to fill in at right back. Most CBs look like Bambi on ice when they're pushed out to the flanks.
And his hair is hardly his fault. I know it's weird for a mixed-race guy to have ginger hair, but that genetics for you.
Although it does make him look like a baked-bean.

Re: The EPL thread (II)
He's not very good at centre back either. He's like Rio but with less ability and with more brain freezes.
Why the hell wasn't Micah at right back? Was he even in the squad? And when the hell is Gary Neville going to be fit again? He's been out for yonks. He may as well retire if he carries on at this rate.

Nay, don't start defending him now. Since hearing David Pleat talking about him during a game he was commentating on on the radio many moons ago I've kept close tabs on Wes. It doesn't matter where he plays, all the above applies and he appears to be a nano-second off the pace at all times. A bit like Micah Richards, only a lot, lot, worse...
Eh, what, what's all this 'modifying' gubbins?... Aaaaah.
Well well well, look who it is. Soz guys, I'd love to stop and chat but it's time to catch some zeds. G'night.

I've never been a big Wes Brown fan, but suprisingly he has been very solid for United at right back this season nothing special but has been doing the job well.

WTF do they think they're doing???? I'm not an avid supporter of a Prem club, but if I was, I'd be horrendously outraged. Who do they think they are??? Seriously??? Maybe I'm getting too wound up about it but I reckon that is a total disgrace. It's not Manchester and Dubai United etc.

Maybe if the world sees the depressing reality of Middlesborough vs Birmingham City they'll see the Premiership for the Emperor's new clothes it is and the people of the far east will their bin Man Utd shirts and learn to love and respect themselves a little bit more instead.

Better still, perhaps they'll take the playing squads of Boro and Birmingham hostage, torture them with electrical shocks to the nads for a while, then cut their legs off for insulting Far Eastern honour by charging them actual money to watch such piddle.
Everyone's a winner.

"Deluded" is superfluous in that post.
Just "Geordies..." with a roll of the eyes will suffice.
