So who'd come in?taipan wrote:And now a run out.
Time to clean house. This team has been underperforming for 18 months.

At the very least Ingram and Kelinveldt must disappear. Tsotsobe as well if he doesn't get his attitude right. De Kock must come in and keep. If DeLange is fit he must come in. Smith and Kallis must decide what they want to do.

140/8 now with plenty of overs.... SA have something to defend.

Highest ever 9th wkt stand in ODIs for Saffers. Well done them.

Top notch rear-guard stuff from the Miller and Kleiny.

Is it England's aim to see the match to 50 overs? Been gash since the eighth wicket fell.

Some good hostile bowling by Sturat to remove Kleiny, caught off the glove. Still, good effort to add nearly 100 for the 9th wkt with Miller.

Tse Tse Bee goes 1st ball. All out 175.
Can't see this being much of a challenge. Hopefully the Yarps charge in and make a game of it.

Jimmeh was outstanding - maybe could've been bowled out seeking another pole. Finn looked sharp. Sturat was OK but got a couple of important late wickets with some fire. Tredders was bizarrely threatening.Â
All in all, Chef would be generally chuffed with his bowlers efforts.
England to get these 3 down.

Was always on Miller's bandwagon and he came through again. Never got what they saw in Ingram ahead of him.
Poms should do this easily. Â Not a great day for the Proteas but they're very inconsistent in this form of the game and they have passengers.

Anderson and Tredwell were excellent, the rest were not. I always shudder when I see Broad taking wickets with the short ball. Makes me feel that for the next couple of months he'll think that's the way to go.
Standard sh*t captaincy from Cook. 80-8, and he takes off his frontline bowlers to get a few in with Root and Bopara. If he'd bowled Jimmy out we'd likely be chasing 110. Oh well.

He wanted some blocking practice for him and Bell. Lengthier blocking practice than 110 would've given us. I back us to chase these in 45 overs.

So England got early wickets with swing and we have 2 spinners on.

Who would you choose to replace him as captain? From what I've seen and heard, Amla is extremely reluctant.

I wouldn't say Faf's spot in the team is 100% secure.
The only sound choice would be to try and persuade Smith to take over again with the World Cup in mind.

I agree on Faf, it is a drawback.
Dunno if he wants it.

England walking a tightrope here.
Just as well for them Steyn is not playing, or they might have been something horrible like 80-6. Or even 80-8.

Why isn't Kleinveldt bowling?
(The stock FB answer is "because he's shit". But he isn't.)
