Oh, I don't like Abbott either but Rudd is a complete qunt to the core of his soul (experience with him from his bad old days in QLD) and only the dullest are taken in by his suggestions that he is a changed man. At least Abbott has some competent people around him; competence around Rudd is wasted as he will micro-mismanage everything as he did when he last exerted his autocratic authority. Whitlam without principles. Bruce Francis given power. Total. Qunt.

His brother Greg agrees. Believes he has superficially changed his spots because he's "not a completely dumb leopard".lardbucket wrote:Oh, I don't like Abbott either but Rudd is a complete qunt to the core of his soul (experience with him from his bad old days in QLD) and only the dullest are taken in by his suggestions that he is a changed man. I did the ABC vote compass quiz & was suprised to find that although most of my views were consistant with the Libs, i was was not as far right as i thought. I guess you could say that i'm not to the right of Ghengis Khan but sitting in his lap.

I tried out the Vote Compass as well. Unsurprisingly it came up with similar results to the last time I tried one of these political compass things about eight years ago.
It had me 60% in tune with the Libs, 48% with Labor and 41% with the Greens.
I was slightly to the right economically and about a third of the way up on social liberalism.

Yeah, about same position as the original political compass. Right of the Green's but left and above Labor.

Probably the right thread for this ...
ARTICLE
FMD, John Gay has actually pleaded guilty to the insider trading and corruption that just about everyone knew he was guilty of, but no-one I know thought he would ever have to own up to let alone serve penance for ...
forgive the multiple split infinitives; I know 'a preposition is something you should never end a sentence with'; but this is great news for environmentalists and their supporters in Tasmania, and Gay used every shareholder's dollar to defend himself from these claims at every step of the process. Ace!
I suspect, though, that it's only his very poor health which has forced him to come clean at this late stage, or he'd have fought on. The health problems are sad for him and his family, but I am glad that he has had to own to his corruption. I wonder which political figures will be implicated as things proceed ... Lennon and Bryan Green for starters, you'd think. Perhaps Will Hodgman too. Interesting times.

Beattie, Rudd's partner in crime from years ago, is now standing in Forde.

Crikey, the betting odds seem remarkably one-sided:

anyway ... can you not organise a postal vote pronto? I believe you can arrange such things not only in London bit also in Manchester and perhaps other UK cities ... maybe Edinburgh?
and has everyone seen this?

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XI)
Yeah, his fringe flick rate increases with tension and anger.
Krudd is getting desperate with the slipping polls. Far from the "new conciliatory" Krudd, he has parachuted 60 year old retired Premier Peter Beattie (whose popularity rating had slipped from 70+% in 2002 to 40% in 2009) into Forde (previous candidate Des Hardman had no say), and NSW Pinko head kicker Sam Dastyari into the Senate. And word is that he is looking to do the same with former Brisvegas Lord Mayor Jim Soorley in the next 48 hours.
Amusing front page from the Courier Mail...

Latest polls to be released tomorrow are dire for Labor.
I am changing my forecast on election day to 53-47 to the blue ties.
Bring back the vulture.
