Drags smash the Tits. Fark we are sooo gonna regret those one or two close losses and THAT stolen 2 points by the Squall.

11 teams within 8 points and all can still make the 8. What a comp!!!

Drags have a crucial one next week v Nags at Suncorp. Lose and that's it. Win then we have the Knights in the final game and we could still jag a top 8 spot. Other cricital games in final 2 rounds are Rooters v Squall next week and Squall v Nags in Final round. Slimeys are in the 8 and have the Nits and the Graiders in their final 2 rounds.

Storm defeat the Panthers 24 - 10.

The means that the teams that were 1st, 2nd & 3rd on the points table going into this round were all beaten.

The Roosters are now ahead of Penrith on F & A.

Drags' defence has looked paper thin v Nags tonight. Don't deserve a Finals spot.

Let's hope that the ref who made that disgraceful decision against Gillett is sacked immediately & never allowed on a Rugby League ground again.

Cummins, was it? Hang your head low. You are a disgrace to the game.

No one knows. He sent Gillett to the sin bin for ten minutes for allegedly being offside but he wasn't offside at all. Now St George have scored 18 points since that incident & are back in a game that was gone for all money. Gus was calling it as the biggest refereeing clanger he had ever seen.

The ref has apologised to Gillett.

Don't apologise. Just resign.

No IQ here, but Foxsports will show it again tomorrow. Well done to the Broncs. Hard assignment in Melbourne next week for them.

Aye Nath, it's been a particularly poor effort from the refs this year. So many clangers.

I see the NRL is setting up a "Ref's Bunker" ... a remote command centre "where in-game decisions can be made by a smaller number of experts". They have touted Bob Fulton and...wait for it...John "Ned Flanders" Buchanan as possible real time command centre participants. columbo

Have seen the Gillett sinbinning. Quite mindboggling that the ref made that boner!!

The ladder is quite remarkable with one round to go. The current top 4 are safe, though their finishing positions are still uncertain. Any of the next 5 can make it, or miss out. Amazingly, the Storm (who looked comfortable against the R00ters before collapsing) in 5th can miss out with a loss the the Nags.

The key games next weekend are:

Storm v Broncos - not prepared to tip the winner but leaning towards the Storm. If Storm lose and all 4 below them win, they are gone!! Should be a beauty!!
Raiders v Eels - Slimeys should win but after their capitulation v Knights - who knows. Eels must win due to their inferior F&A to the Broncs and the Cows.
Cows v Sea Eagles - Cows are in cracking form. Cows have the advantage of playing after the Storm/Broncos game. A Broncs loss means Cows can afford to lose due to their superior F&A.
Titans v Bulldogs - Dogs need to win to ensure top 8 spot due to a poor F&A. No guarantee. If they lose and the 3 below them all win, they are gone.

And to top it all off, there's R00ters v Rabbits to determine the Minor Premiership. Cracking final round. Only 2 games mean nothing. Even the Panthers v Warriors game is important as it will have a bearing on the top 8 finishing positions.

If you go via the current odds, the winners will be R00ters, Storm, Eels, Eagles, Bulldogs. That would mean that the Broncos are the team to miss the 8.

And apologies for my sleeping Sunday morning post. I made it forgetting that 3 games were still to be played in THIS round. Still most of it is still current.

The main changes will be:

- if (or when) the Cows snot the Sharks tomorrow night, they'll be almost assured of a top 8 spot,
- if Cows beat the Eagles at home next week, then either the R00ters or Rabbits can still be Minor Premiers (better F&A than Filth),
- Warriors are still very much in the mix but have a tough last game v Pennies at Penrith,
- Storm can miss out all together (see 2 posts above), finish 5th or finish top 4 if Penrith lose to Warriors.

There's now actually more permutations than in my absent minded post this morning. Any of 10 can make the 8, with the Nags & probably the Worriers the most likely to miss out. Very Happy

Never mind that Lyons was in front of the kicker & the final pass was forward. Stinking Manly are always allowed to get away with anything.

I reckon there is a clique in the ref ranks that DO favour the Filth. Lyons was way offside.

Respect to a modern legend of the game.

Brent Tate retires

"The 32-year-old Test and Queensland Origin back has announced his retirement, accepting medical advice that returning from the ruptured ACL sustained during this year's State of Origin series was one fight too many.

Tate, who played the last decade of his career with a neck brace, had already returned to play after three previous knee reconstructions."

The Maroons and the NRL will miss him.
