Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
The Pants showing a little bit more balls in their second knock - probably just to tantalise and then dash Danny's hopes even harder.
Lancs predictably ailing against gusbeamer's team. I had hopes (see above) for a while that Khawaja might finally produce an innings of substance for the Red Rose, even help to set a total, but once he got to 50 (which is progress, if you set the bar low enough) he was out, and the previously in-form Croft then followed him almost at once. So Lancs languish again. Such are the vicissitudes of cricket.
PS: Now Prince quickly gawn too. Kell Kalamity. ... Gurney for England? Or just good enough for Lancs?

Gurney running through Lancs like a hot knife through Pants. Only Buttler still resisting the hot knife, after a fashion.
Six down, nearly out.

No, no, no... there's nothing I'm more certain of every single time we play - a Northants loss.
Besides which, WGAF about some shitty draw. The wins column is still embarrassingly at 0.
Whatevs.
Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
320-8 in the fourth innings is nothing to be ashamed of, though. 84 more to win might be unlikely, but at least they are giving it a faqqin go at last.
Unlike Lancs.

Willey's too much of a shitwad to stay around and Azharullah is nowt but a Daren Powell. Whatevs. Yeah, fair play to them for sticking at it, I suppose, if you're being lenient. In my eyes, they're still a disgrace.

Nah, we need 230.

Can I just draw attention to Jigger Naik's bowling figures for the match currently underway at New Road:
Overs 51
Maidens 15
Runs 146
Wickets 0
This is on a ground which has been offering help to the spinners all season.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
True, though the scoreboard's a bit misleading.
The home team had simply failed to post a decent total, and challenge. And despite the sterling efforts of Lancs' bowlers, the visitors had essentially won the game with 7 wickets down: only 7 runs needed when Fletch holed out. Dr Dre then decided to win it in two blows, and perished with the scores level. So by the time Gurnin' 'Arry came to the crease, a fluked tie was the very most the home team could achieve.
In sum: Dispiriting batting effort - same basic problem as Northants.
"Bowlers win matches, batsmen can only put you in a good position" is the truism. Yeeeeeees .... true to a certain extent. But it's almost impossible to win anything if you consistently fail to post any sort of score. And that's why it very much looks like it will be a double yo-yo at the bottom of Division 1 by the end of this season.

I have taken an oath that I will only wear easily removed Pants for the rest of the Pomgolian Domestic season....this is until the Pants are zipped up and win!!!!....(given my allegiances to the Pears and the fibre they offer it is prolly best I do not wear pants)

I don't think so. I think we'd have finished in the bottom three of Div 2 (as we did before last season). Same personnel. The big difference (apart from being gutless weako big time Charlies) has been not having Trent Copeland and the fact that Willey has been injured for most of the season. That still would've happened in the 2nd Div.
Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
England's search is over.
Even an embarrassment of riches:
Danny Briggs (sla) 15.4 - 5 - 57 - 4
Liam Dawson (sla) 14.0 - 4 - 50 - 4

Danny - has Sales retired, or is he perma-injured?
If the former, must have slipped my memory or escaped my notice.

Mind you, Daws has just been biffed all over the place by Saj for the winning runs, so that might be a tiny fly in the ECB's ointment.

Had a spell out at the start of the season, because of injury. Came back in, gashed the place out, so now I don't know whether he's injured or just dropped. Hopefully injured, because there's no point in keeping him out of the side - at least he faced a few balls.

I'm liking Gary Ballance.

Good man.

...Gary Ballance was on a sticky wicket on Sunday night when he stripped topless in a Nottingham club and declared himself “absolutely ******”.
.....
One punter said: “They had to carry him out at the end of the night. He was standing outside with his top off screaming ‘England! England! England!”
Good man.

I would like five minutes alone in a dark room with the qunt who sent David Willey on that strengthening and conditioning course last year. They have turned a potential England player into a trundle. Hopefully, he he's young enough to come back.

'Apparently' it had been a long term niggle that was finally turned into a stress fracture on the strengthening course. Bit quntish, was an outside shout for a T20 WC squad place.
Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
If all goes to plan, Pears are two games away from T20 finals day at Edgbaston, and Birmingham Bears won't qualify on their home ground. How sweet is that...........if you're a Pear obviously?

52 wickets @ 20 for Mark Footitt this season. That's slipped under the radar.
One time "next big thing", a "rapid" left armer - who got injured ever other innings.
Well, at 28, he seems to have found consistent fitness and form. BIt like Plunkett. Doubt he's rapid anymore, though.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
How about the qunt who invented the strength and conditioning course? I wonder what the likes of Trueman would have said about that shit...Basil wrote:Brass Monkey wrote:horace wrote:hmmn....the nurses here are not happy....would the Pants beat the Leics if they were in the same division?
