Lovely place is Scarborough - but not for the Sexies right now!eowyn wrote:PeterCS wrote:Merlo's Championship aspirants appear to be enjoying their seaside holiday.

I can see Gale declaring this morning leaving Middlesex to chase down 420 odd to win...
It'll never happen.

Dilly Rashid bowls Yorkshire to victory against Middlesex with 4/27. Was actually allowed a whole 17 overs. Crazy days.
In other England throwback news, Stuart Meaker has 4/60 for Surrey against Kent (8 wickets in the match) on his first game back in the first XI since May.

I'd pick him. The alternatives hardly scream out 'pick me' unless your name is Trevor J. Dello-Mudge esquire.

So, Pears 395
Gloucestershower 156 and 10/1
Damn, we are so missing Saeed Ajmal!

Surely Adam Shantry would be ahead of Jade, even now.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Timid and pathetic fold from Middlesex up at Scarborough.
Usual end-season rot setting in - they might even compete with Northants and the Lankies in the drop-zone at the rate they're going ... from top spot 5 weeks ago to a possible 7th with Sussex and Durham having games in hand.
The story so far ..... Fraser's continues to be a you c**t.

Several reasons tbh ... none to do with ACTUAL hands on coaching
Silky smooth tongue which delivers an abundance of bullshit.
Ex Middlesex player (Gatting and Embers had the job before him)
Current England selector.
Arselicker.
Publicity seeker.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Anyone see the T20 bash between the Chavs and Warneys ex pats last night on Sky?
A lad called Matt Coles came in and bludgeoned everything Essex threw at him - scoring 50 in 18 balls (joint 4th fastest 50 ever)!
Okay it was played on a postage stamp school playground at Chelmschavford ... but the manner of aggression was akin to that shown by Aaron Finch recently.
He bowls a bit too ... so one to keep an eye on for future T20's.

He can't put a foot wrong this season - a decent bet for the captaincy of The Lions this winter I would have thought.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
This from Cricinfo's the match report:
When Mitchell returned to the pavilion with 167 not out against his name, spectators in every stand, marquee and corporate junket stood to applaud. This was Mitchell's third century on the College Ground, where his average is 115. His 167 not out makes him highest run-scorer in the country.
Those who decry his achievement because his runs have been scored against second-tier attacks might do Mitchell the courtesy of watching him bat; they would see one of the most accomplished and well-organised batsmen in the country in the best form of his career. It really is not unknown for such cricketers to play in Test matches.

I watched it to see how James Vince was shaping up. Out first ball. That's some nice woofage.
Coles is rhubarb. PIled on the pounds in recent years, bowls 83mph "Bresnans" and made his first meaningful innings ever last night - which was basically slogging.

A bit like Aaron Finch then - only with "Bressies" as additional ammo ! Â Â

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Whereas Finch is supposed to just stand there and slog like a fattie, Coles is supposed to be wanging it down when bowling. Talk about resting on your laurels - get a Lions spot to Australia, spend most of it getting shitfaced with Ben Stokes, then put on a shitload of weight in the soft underbelly of County Cricket. He typifies the shitwad cockfaces we seem to be breeding.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Meaker finishes with 7-90 and 11 wickets in the match, to go with a 50 in Surrey's first innings.
Nice return to the side after a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

They just seem to have a weirdly disproportionate amount of quite decent young English cricketers at the moment. Meaker, Dunn, Roy, Ansari, Burns, Edwards, Sibley. And Tom Curran, whatever nationality he's supposed to be.
Can't help but keep an eye out for them, to see which promising career I can ruin next with a note.
Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
Pears beat Gloucestershire by eight wickets. What is it with last wicket partnerships? Gloucester's two in this match accounted for nearly 38% of their total of runs in the match.

Re: English Domestic Season (2014)
I can confirm that Willey has fully dobbed up. Hasn't gone over 81mph. Shame.
Crook still has some nip. Highest 88. Slowest ball 71. Quite a range. Still think England missed a trick not picking him for the T20 stuff.
