Signoff because of the weight.

WSTB seems to have been set just right for it.

Red Cadeaux out of sentemntality, and well it's almost a local.

So the Japanese horse comes last, Red Cadeaux second again and the German horse comes home like a rocket and blows them away.

Very Close.

2nd, 3rd & 4th.

Admire Rakti has collapsed & died in his stall after the race.
Very sad news.

Terrible news after the French are Varema died following last year's race.

Actually in the past year about 125 horses have died during or shortly after a race.

In another post-race incident, seventh-placed Araldo kicked out at a fence when returning to the mounting yard and injured a hind leg.

Vets were assessing the seriousness of the injury, which some reports said was life-threatening.

The horse has been treated by the on-course veterinary team and has been transported by ambulance to the University of Melbourne Veterinary Hospital for further treatment and assessment.

Apparently* Araldo got spooked by a kid waving a flag. You'd think he's at the wrong racecourse if that is going to be a problem.

Just looking at Protectionist's pedigree. His 4th dam was Pawneese, an outstanding race filly who won the Epsom Oaks, Prix de Diane & the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes back in 1976.

No but yes. If they were human it would be yes as They are by the same sire. But In horse racing half relation status is based only on the dam being the same.

PS - Filled me boots with some decent each way loot on Red Cadeaux at 25/1 ...
Poor old bridesmaid - yet again!
Moore (Perfectionists jock) is really a special talent.

His comment after the race went along the lines of
"Glad I won ... this makes leaving the wife and kids back home all the more easy to bear!"

The Japan Cup will be run in about an hour and a half from now. It is one of the world's great races & this year looks to be full of quality. I have a slight preference for Just A Way who many believe to be the best horse in the world over ten furlongs. However, the Japan Cup is run over over twelve furlongs. Gentildonna who won this race is 2012 & 2013 is attempting the hat-trick this year & will be hard to beat. Other good chances include Epiphaneia, Harp Star, Isla Bonita, One And Only, Spielberg & Trading Leather. A few words of warning - While the Japanese have some of the best horses in the world, they also have the worst jockeys. So that might give an advantage to Gentildonna (R.Moore), Epiphaneia (C.Soumillon) & Trading Leather (K.Manning).

Who do you think will win?
