Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
I have to concede that the only chance the Libs have in the next election is with a new leader.

They are pretty short of options though.

True. Turnbull would probably sit well with the voters but i don't think he has the balls to be an effective leader.

I reckon First Dog is written by MrK, with an underpaid Bannie contract cartoonist doing the artwork under some pinko nom de plume.

TA continues to get slammed by the Murdoch press - Albrechtsen and Sheridan against him today. Shanahan yesterday.
Meanwhile, Uncle Rupe has tweeted that Peta Credlin should be sacked or resign.

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
Meanwhile, inflation is almost non-existent, unemployment is down, interest rates are down, AUD about where it should be, stockmarket up. All thanks to the Libs.
What's that you say?? "Phurt, the Pinkos did all that"?? And the $1Bill in interest we (the Aus taxpayer) pays per month on drunken sailor racked up foreign debt?? And the $130Bill a year (or $1,400 per person per year) welfare bill?? Ah, that'd be the Pinkos too, yeah??
And all you can whinge about is a pretty meaningless knighthood to a smelly old casual racist?? FFS, get a grip, people.
And at the same time the press is beating up alleged* turmoil between CA officials/teammates and the Australian Captain.
I guess good news sells far more poorly than bad.

When was the last time an australian prime minister ever had more than a 50% approval rating? Rudd in 2007? Howard in the aftermath of 9-11?
The pattern is- hate the government, slightly less hate the opposition, and repeat.

hehehe....what capos dont rip off you in the wage packet they collect at the till...
there are basically two elements to productivity - labour and capital investment...Oz capos whinge about the former (see the recent reference given the Productivity Commission) and are silent about their failure to do the latter...
When the BHP steelworks closed in Newcastle there had been decades worth of labour productivity gains...the basic problem was the workers were using 1950s technology because the big Australian would not invest in modern equipment. The works were uncompetitive against rivals in places like korea (which had more modern equipment as well as lower labour costs)
