With all respect it is a bit bizarre carrying stuff to the top of Everest.

Agreed on that - over the top might be an appropriate phrase - but I like the idea of the match played for a Phil Hughes trophy. This might even evolve into an international match between Nepal and an Australian rep team.

ANOTHER TRAGEDY
Have seen some awful on-field player collisions over the years; this is the only one with a fatal outcome that I'm aware of. Truly awful.

A young rugby player sadly died on the weekend in Oz too, after a bad tackle.
These are dangerous sports.

Why now? It was a horrible accident. What are the family going to make of it?

I also agree. They did'nt have any inquest when that young Rugby player died recently, so why is this any different.
Re: Phillip Hughes dies, aged 25
****** pointless
we know what happened. we know why he died. there arent going to be any real answers or solutions produced so its jsut a waste of time and money

Don't know if this was raised here but earlier this month it was suggested that there will be a new investigation into Roebuck's death at the behest of his family.

Aye t. I just posted the following in the Aus Domestic Cricket thread, but this is where is should have logically gone.
Hmm, I hope this deal doesn't turn into some "thou shall not sledge" ruling. Hughes himself would be embarrassed to learn that sledging and short bowling are being questioned.
You there, Trev?

Ah, missed that. Sorry.
A silly decision to have the inquiry in the first place. Of course, the court is likely to see through this. Otherwise, I might start practicing again as cricket may shift back to underarm bowling.

Not an inquiry, but an inquest, which is mandatory.

Not a chance in hell that we can have the inquest without the idiot commentary from the SBM peanut gallery, of course?

Re: Phillip Hughes dies, aged 25
I remember reading an article about the Hughes death written during the last cricket season ...which I now cant find
It detailed how Hughes was getting over the flu but was desperate to play to try and get a Test spot
The dubbers were happy (it was a team plan) to bowl short (hookable or pullable) balls to him as they knew it wasn't his strongest shot and were hoping he would get frustrated and chuck his wicket away
With DtR denying the kill sledge and Haddit deny the targeting it seems the dubbers are fearing the inquest

Aye. I can't see why admitting to a bowling short plan would be a problem, nor the sledging. It has been part of cricket forever, and always will be.
FFS, it's not like the short bowling was aimed at killing the little bloke.
And as for Ruggy's alleged comment, even at my local district A-grade level "I'm gonna rip your head off and shit in your neck" or words to that effect were a common greeting for me as an opening batsman. I bet Phews just blew him a kiss.

Getting worse. Cooper changes his story. The bollybogan allegedly told Phews he was going to kill him. Seems like there has been an effort to protect the Spivs. Wonder if perjury charges could arise.
As usual it is good to not be a spiv.

Family seem to want blood too. How many people have been killed whilst batting? I think I can remember a grade game in the seventies that made the news, and that was more to do with the heart.

A guy I played with died instantly when hit on the artery. Died instantly. G was one of the first guys I knew who used a helmet.
Sounds lime the coach and Haddit used short ball theory and followed up with bogan sledging. Standard issue really....'cept Hughes croaked and the guilt stricken spivs are covering their bogan arses..ineptly it seems.
