Re: The U.K. Election thread
Oddly enough I have been reading up on 1970s UK politics and it's strange how the politics have changed between the two main parties.

Re: The U.K. Election thread
Nobody likes any of the parties, so anyone's guess how it will turn out... odds and polls favour a small Labour majority but it certainly won't be a ringing endorsement of Miliband as a potential PM.
UKIP will be a distraction but surely won't get more than a handful of actual seats. Polls would suggest a wipeout for the Lib Dems but they have enough strong local support to retain a fair few. They could still hold the balance of power, as could the SNP who look like sweeping the board in Scotland despite the No vote on independence...

Anyone who reckons they can confidently predict the outcome of this election is either a fool or a genius.

Re: The U.K. Election thread
Labour are a shambles and UKIP are awful. The Tories are the best of a bad bunch. It's the same for Australia and America- We hate ALL political parties these days, as they try to outdo each other with promises they won't keep, in order to get votes.
Yay for democracy.

Re: The U.K. Election thread
Meh ... The Tories and UKIP will combine - along with the 3 Lib Dems
that manage to hold on to their seats - to create the next Government.
Millipede can go piss in a pot and suck up to jocks in the SNP.
As if.

Re: The U.K. Election thread
So I am busy watching an election debate on Sky. I have recently read a series of books on British politics in the 60's.
They are busy arguing nuclear deterrents, immigration policies, social housing, common (EU) market, taxation policies, unemployment.
The striking point is nothing has changed in 50 years

Just flicked over to the debate to be confronted with Millibore staring down the camera putting on his man of the people routine.
What a qunt (applies to all of them) but he is cringey in the extreme.

Not because of UKIP though, under this system they will get a handful of seats at most. It's the likely SNP clean sweep in Scotland that will make it next to impossible for either of the main parties to get a majority or workable coalition.

Re: The U.K. Election thread
UK Politics will reach it's nadir if Ed Miliband becomes PM.
He still has the appearance of a young Labour work experience guy fresh out of university, who constantly gets pushed out of his depth because none of the senior people want to do the job.

Re: The U.K. Election thread
Not at all. He's a charisma cot death, but not even close to being the worst of the options - or even worse than Gordon f*cking Brown.
Re: The U.K. Election thread
Well, being worse than Brown would take some doing... I suspect a strong Labour leader would have given them a fairly comfortable majority in the current climate. Unlike all the shit Tory leaders in the Blair era though, the competition is weak enough for him to still stumble through the door of number 10, probably in a minority government that the SNP and others have the power to pull the plug on at any time they wish to.
