0 - 124 (lead) 3 overs after tea; WA easily managing 4 runs per over so far.

They will leave just over 80 overs so they get a crack with the 2nd new ball
That was Griffo's plan in the Billy game because they had missed out on knocking over Toz earlier in the season

I reckon they will need to leave more; most of the overs available tomorrow.
So far, only Harris, Voges, and Rogers have scored runs at a S/R of >60 in this match. I also note that most of the wickets seem to be falling in the morning session, after day 1 anyway, so I think WA will want to be bowling then.

Well, whatever happens in the rest of this game, I am very impressed with the start of these two WA openers, both of whom are only 22.
Bancroft (who I note is also a wicket-keeper) has had a fantastic season; nearly 900 runs, and Harris has played very well under the pressure of a final. It's good to see young batsmen playing well. I can scarcely imagine the howls from the NSW media had NSW an opener who'd made 900 runs in the season, including a double hundred, and had not yet been selected in a Test.

spot on...while old blokes like Voges, klinger and Little Brazen have had good seasons (and Voges shd be on the boat), a number of the younger brigade have also had innings of substance and played consistently well.

1 -246 (lead) with 10 overs to go today ... I reckon they're now going for 300 lead and an overnight declaration, or at least a declaration very early tomorrow. There seems to be nothing in the pitch for the bowlers.

Klinger departs for a rapid 44 ... Harris still going, he's made a run-a-ball 120 so far.

Well, 2-240 in 49 overs suggests the wicket is getting easier, if anything. The lead is just 280.
My best guess: WA to really throw the bat for around 10 overs tomorrow, hoping for a lead of 340-350, whilst leaving themselves about 85 overs at Victoria.
Mackin and Agar will probably be the key with the ball.

Oh, that's a bit depressing ... one weather site I just checked suggests there is a 90% chance of rain in Hobart tomorrow, and of 10-20 mm.
So it looks likely that WA will go through the season undefeated, with no Shield; whilst their opponents, who have lost matches, take the Shield. I think the points system is a bit weird.

Forcast for today is cloudy 20c with 0% chance of rain. Looks like we will get a full days play.

Well, that's changed overnight! Good news.
My weather gurus (Elders) now report 'mostly sunny, 60% chance of rain, and only 5-10 mm (if it rains). A big change from their forecast yesterday.

Re teams going thru the summer unbeaten but not winning the Shield: Wasn't there one season in the early 90s when Victoria (under the rather pedestrian leadership of Simon O'Donnell) played 10, won 1, drew the other nine and finished stone motherless?

Good news that the weather is good. A quick 70 by the Wozzies then 80 overs at the Viles could make for a great finish.

Sandies set Viles 334 for the outright and give themselves 90-ish overs to get the win themselves.
