How about
Have it at the home ground of the second placed team so a "draw wicket" isn't produced by the home curator
Bringing up a pitch already just used in a JAMODI for the 5 day showcase domestic finale is a disgrace by CA ...I dont blame the Tozzie curator as he was given no notice of CA's masterplan

aye...not a bad idea but have the 1st placed teams curator prepare the wicket!
and yes a complete pox on CA for their patent disregard for the Shield

Maybe scrap the final altogether, the team finishing first gets the Shield.

Obviously is all personal opinion, but I reckon the Final adds a lot. It gives us a usually fitting finale to the season, and it gives two groups of supporters reason to chew their fingernails for 5 days beyond the season proper.
With the drawn final proviso, more often than not the team that finishes first past the post ends up winning the Shield, but there's still that chance that 2nd may pull off a win. It just adds to the majesty of the Sheffield Shield IMHO.
It also removes the boredom of the chance that the season can be over before the final round of games.
I wonder what will transpire.

neutral ground
both teams curators collaborate on preparing the pitch
all time lost to weather or bad light to be made up
plus the points for the next season thing
and a non racist coin toss to keep bucky happy

You'd have to watch the coin tosses in Tassie. The coins have two heads.
