Next wicket, Windies should send in the number eleven to have a thrash. A quick 20 breaks the back of this.
Re: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Bridgetown, 1-5 May, 2015
Fear not- Andrew "shake things up" Strauss is just about confirmed as England's new Managing Director. NOW we'll see some change.....
And to think they almost went nuts and appointed a man with a genuine and natural feel for the game of cricket (Vaughan)

"I'd certainly be disappointed if we don't win the series, because I am pretty sure the West Indies are going to have a mediocre team.
"A lot of their stars are going to be playing in the Indian Premier League, not in the Tests, so we should win.
"If we don't win, I can tell you now there will be some enquiries why we haven't."
Let's see if Colin Graves is all talk, then...
Re: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Bridgetown, 1-5 May, 2015
It was Moores and Cook who decided to make Trott an opening batsman, and it was Moores and Cook who decided to ignore Adil Rashid the entire series on pitches that were made for spinners.
Moores and Cook are the ones most responsible for this, yet you know they won't be touched.

And that's your lot.
Well played, Windies. Or Windies B. Or C. Whatever rabble they are, minus name players.

That's a very good win by the Windies. Top knock by Bravo, and Blackwood looks the goods as well.
Well done to the Ganjas.

Well played the Windies, a very good result for them.
Dare I say it, this might also be a good result for England as well? If they'd won here, it might have been all complacency, Anderson and Broad back in bowling form, Cook making runs, etc. ... little danger of that now.
Jordan looks a good find. For WI, Blackwood looks a great find.

The match was England of the last few years in microcosm. Senior players unable to perform and score tough runs. Defensive, dry cricket unable to bear fruit when placed under actual strain. A tail that seems unable to wag against anything borderline different or dangerous. Broad, Moores and Trott should hit the trapdoor immediately, Bell and Cook should be watched closely.

Well done Windies. Hopefully they can build on this (although how many times have we said that in the last 10 years?)
England? Well by and large they were shite. Again. You wonder how low they have to stoop before real changes are made.

Top match. The crowd was pretty rammed. Fair play to the Windies. It'd be easy to blame England (and let's face it, we seem like a reasonably poor side) but I'm hoping that there are some promising signs under Phil Simmons. A couple of decent young batsmen, a lively ish attack.
Re: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Bridgetown, 1-5 May, 2015
I'm pleased the Windies got something out of the series as I couldn't bear England's triumphalism after they won just ONE game (their first away from home in years) - the coach and captain suddenly talking up the side and what an exciting future they've got. After ONE win. F*ck off.
Re: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Bridgetown, 1-5 May, 2015
Cook tots up a score of 3 'take it on the chins' in his post match interview.
Well played skipper.

I tell you what I'm glad it's a proper 5 match series.
What? It's not - oh yeah we've got a really important ODI against the Micks to play instead.
Good scheduling.

Moores to Hussain 'I think there's a ruthlessness we need to develop as a team."
Couldn't agree more - and it starts with f*cking consigning you to history. For good this time. No more comebacks you w*nker.

Re: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Bridgetown, 1-5 May, 2015
The Sky boys seemed to be keen to point the finger at Moeen a lot. I think it's a touch harsh to expect a part timer to win you the game.
The bigger concern on the bowling side of things is surely our 3rd/4th seamer. Neither Stokes or Jordan look like they can come on and run through a side. They both look like they're getting tighter and more consistent - but they don't have a major threat about them. Whereas Holder was able to do come in as 1st change and make a difference in this test. We need to have some genuine menace beyond Jimmy.

Once again the senior players went missing when really needed.
Anyone who seriously blames Moeen for the loss is a fool. He's now a victim of his own (surprising) success against India last Summer. It shouldn't be forgotten that up until a year ago, he was a batsman who was considered only slightly better than a part time spinner. Now some people expect him to win games for England with the ball on turning pitches. Ludicrous.

To quote Ed 'Moses' Miliband, "It ain't gonna happen."
I'm glad WI won too though - hope it is the beginning of some sort of renaissance for them. God knows the test match arena needs it.

Re: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Bridgetown, 1-5 May, 2015
Well played Windies. A tough win.
Of course Moores should walk the plank, but he won't: where the fark are we going to get a replacement in two weeks?
Trott's gone - that much we know.
Moeen's bowling is still in the development stage. He might well have scored a big hundred if he hadn't been sold down the line by his skipper.
It might have been different if Rashid had been picked, but he couldn't get a game on this pitch, then when precisely does he get picked?

The only way Rashid gets in is if we decidee to go the SA route and introduce quotas. Who knows - it might lead to better selections than we're currently able to cobble together.

You mean quotas as in we should pick at least eight players who have a clue? Oh, I'm all for that.

Re: West Indies v England, 3rd Test, Bridgetown, 1-5 May, 2015
Well, the Aussies pulled the trigger on their failing coach just before the Ashes started, and although it didn't rescue that particular series, it wasn't long before things improved. I can't imagine them moving quickly in England's case, but if we are beaten convincingly by NZ then they will be backed into a corner even further.
As far as this series goes, it was a wasted opportunity to try out some new players, and a failure to beat the worst of the eight serious Test sides can't be seen as acceptable. This side needs difference makers, an injection of momentum at the top of the order, and some genuine pace in the attack. As well as the spin issue which won't be solved easily. I probably wouldn't bother with a spinner at home, just pick the best six batsmen, keeper and four seamers. If one of the batsmen can turn his arm over a bit then it's a bonus.

I don't know why we're worried. Peter Moores will analyse the data, and all will be fine.
