Bumped for when MrK does have time.
Try this one.
India's 1st innings 105 in the 1st Test contained an individual 50 (KL Rahul 64) and a 50 partnership (50 for 4th wkt). There have been only 2 lower completed innings totals containing an individual 50 and a 50 partnership. When?
Low completed Test innings total including individual 50 and a 50 partnership:

105 - Ind v Aus, Pune, 2016-17 - #2 KL Rahul 64/50 runs for 4th wkt

Re: Trivia 2017
Peter's Q also bumped for further consideration.
Here’s a quiz question – not topical, but perhaps of interest.
The classic historian and cricket writer CLR James was a great fan of George Headley (“the Black Bradman”, as others called him). See avatar left.
But which THREE outstanding qualities of a great batsman did he identify Headley as demonstrating to a superior level?
And which one of those three did he consider the “most important”?
If you prefer, you can treat this (under the Spoiler cowl) as a multiple choice question.
(I've had to amend his wording slightly, for obvious reasons.)
Don’t forget to select James’ top quality of the three.

- Multiple Choice?:
1. Quick in assessing the wicket
2. Quick in his bat movement
3. Quick into the hook or pull
4. Quick on his feet
5. Quick to call a run
6. Quick to get off the mark
7. Quick to judge what role was needed
8. Quick to learn new strokes
9. Quick to see the ball early
10. Quick to spot a bowler’s weaknesses
11. Quick with the sledging

I don't know about three. But he went all trippy once explaining some "Caddyshack" like ability to "be the ball". So I'll say reading the delivery early as the most important. Placing shots purely to tire bowlers in the field was also something he was said to do.
James, trippy?
Here's the answer, and source:
- The 3 top batting qualities (acc CLR James re:
- CLR James:
Paragraph 3 of "George Headley: Nascitur Non Fit" (meaning btw: "He/It is Born, Not Made"), = Part 4 of "Beyond a Boundary", any edition."He had to a superlative degree the three cardinal qualities of the super batsman. He saw the ball early. He was quick on his feet. He was quick with his bat. The most important of all, in my view, is seeing the ball early."
So bullseye, Bradders!
- Just a couple of idle spin-off thoughts, re:
- Interesting, that. No prioritising the state of the wicket, the state of the game, the team, or adjustments of any sort - to James, it seemed all about accurate speed of eye, foot and (then) bat movement.
I suppose everyone hearing of Bradman has wondered quite what set him apart. (This has been written on, of course.)
I think James has a point. Bradman too excelled in spotting the ball from the hand, getting into the right position, and whipping the ball away briskly. When he failed, it was often early in the innings, either to extreme speed - the pace of the ball deceives even the fastest eye, neutralising that batsman's greatest advantage (fear no doubt a factor too!) - or else to extreme guile, esp the wickedly disguised googly/wrong un. Bradman would see it quickly ... but thereby would have guessed wrong. Think not only of his final Test innings, but how Peebles - before he lost his leggie - Robins at his best, Tiger & Grum (mind you, they outwitted many) and again, on top form, the SLA Verity fooled him.
He could "spot" most of them, crush many - but if up against a conjuror, he did occasionally (esp before properly warmed up) guess fast, jump into position - and get it wrong.

Well he was West Indian mon.
I actually recommended 'Beyond the Boundary to a Seppo mate after a long night on the wallop solving the problems of the world. He thought it brilliant but didn't do too much to help his understanding of the game itself. Upon re-reading it he might have been right but the title would suggest it wasn't James' priority.

Fair call. 105 is not lower than 105, but they are the correct answers.

In that 1st Test, Aus won by 333 runs, which is the largest win by runs where the winning margin exceeded all 4 completed totals made in the match.
Can you name the other 2 Tests where the winning margin was over 300 runs but all 4 completed totals were less than 300.
Winning margin over 300 runs with all 4 completed totals under 300:
?
?
333 runs – Aus (280 & 285) bt Ind (105 & 107), Pune, 2016-17

I'm not sure I understand. If you mean the winning margin was larger than any of the four completed innings there would have to be a shitload. But do you mean four all out totals?

All 4 innings in the match were all out (no declarations or unfinished innings) and the winning runs margin was larger than all 4 innings.
Winning margin over 300 runs with all 4 completed totals under 300:
312 runs – Aus (269 & 261) bt WI (167 & 51), Port-of-Spain, 1998-99
328 runs – SAf (235 & 259) bt Ind (100 & 66), Durban, 1996-97

In the final Test in the recent Ind v Aus series, the Indian openers batted on all 4 days of the Test:
Ind v Aus, Dharamsala, 2016-17 (5-day Test/lasted 4 days)
