No. 50 runs @ 12.50
JGK wrote:Dougie in 72?
Indeed

Aye.
JGK wrote:Gilly in Saf in 2006?
Just missed. Averaged 50.18 prior to series, made 50 runs at exactly 10.00
For players with at least 25 Tests - commencing with >50 Test average then averaging less than 10 in a series (at least 5 innings):
DCS Compton – 37 Tests/59.02
Eng v Aus in Aus, 1950-51; 4-8-53-Av 7.75
KD Walters – 31 Tests/54.65
Aus v Eng in Eng, 1972; 4-7-54-Ave 7.71
RT Ponting – 165 Tests/52.75
Aus v SAf in Aus, 2012-13; 3-5-32-Ave 6.40 (his last three Tests)

Just saw this - the Dougie one is the one skully was referring to, no doubt.
What a miserable tour Dougie had there. So bad he was dropped from the 5th test, leaving Australia with no Dubbers and (from memory) no less than six Wozzies. We won that one as a result, of course.

from memory: Stackpole, Watson*, Chappell I, Chappell G, Edwards*, Sheahan, Marsh*, Mallett, Massie*, Lillee*, Inverarity*.
I remember those times so well I can even nominate the six tourists who failed to make the XI ... Taber, Hammond, Colley, Francis, Gleeson, and of course Walters.
And if horrie or some other quibbler claims that Watson was a Vomit rather than a Wozzie, the Wozzies also had Mallett by 'state of first representation' ....

Aye. Remember it well. As a result of the revolving door opener position with Stackpole, the press was loudly proclaiming "we woulda done better if Bill was there".

The same press were not advocating his inclusion pre-tour; the qunts were all promoting Francis (idiot Dubber press), Woodcock, or Ken McAullay (McGilray's bolter).

Re: Trivia 2017
In the recently completed 1st Test SAf v SL in PE, 10 of the 17 wickets taken by Lanka were caught by the keeper i.e. 58.82% of dismissal were c WK.
In Tests where at least 15 wickets fell, there have been only 3 other instances of more than 50% of dismissals by a side being caught by the wicketkeeper. Which matches?
>50% of dismissals by one side (at least 15 wkts) in a Test caught by wicketkeeper:

SAf (392 & 224-7d) v SL, Port Elizabeth, 2016-17

Re: Trivia 2017
In the recently completed series Aus v Pak, Yasir Shah 3 times bowled 40 (240 balls) or more overs in an innings. Even Josh Hazelwood did it in T1 when Pak was admirably chasing the 490 target.
It's not an uncommon occurrence, but multiple bowlers doing it an innings is less common. By my count, there have been 17 occasions where 4 bowlers from one side have sent down 240 balls or more in an innings.
However, only once have 5 bowlers wheeled away for 240 or more balls in the one innings. When?

Aye:
Pak (657-8d) v WI, Bridgetown, 1957-58
R Glichrist 246 balls; EStE Atkinson 294;
OG Smith 366; DStE Atkinson 372; GStA Sobers 342
What about the lowest Test innings total where 4 bowlers sent down 240 or more balls each?
