Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
So the Final will be played in Alice Springs, ay? So there were absolutely NO grounds available in Vomitville? Seems dumb to give away home town advantage.
Alice is closer to Adelaide than it is to Melbourne.

Mike Hussey has been appointed by Cric Tas to undertake the independent review into Cricket Tasmania’s male Pathway and High Performance Programs. According to Tas Cric's Chairman "I should stress that this review is about structures and best practice, not individuals or personalities. It is an important review to ensure that as a major participant in a national competition, Cricket Tasmania is providing as much as possible the same opportunities to our players, coaches and support staff that exist in our national competitors."
Well, i hope something comes of it.

We don't have currently have a First Class standard venue aside from the MCG, until the Junction Oval redevelopment is finished.

Meanwhile Fitzroy-Doncaster has won Victoria's Premier Cricket Title against Melbourne CC (back to back and 10th title to the RoyBoys).
That nasty spiv acolyte RN Harvey played there as a boy, along with his brothers. Fitzroy has produced many State and some some national players.

The final may have damp-squibbed a little as it always does when there is no result, but overall this SS season seems to have been better organised and publicised, and more interesting, and has even coughed up a couple of young Test players that haven't found the jump in class overwhelmingly beyond them. What do you lot think?

Congrats to the Vile Vomits.
Clearly the best team all season and deserved Shield winners.

I agree Fred re the interest factor and there being a number of bright young prospects to emerge.
For me tho, the split season is a disaster for continuity of cricket for Test contenders and general interest.
Unhappily there is no chance of change.
I did not mind the Duke ball being used for half the season. Interestingly the form of some players tailed off when confronted with the Duke. White was clearly one of those.

What the 'Canes really need is some consistent players, starting with their overseas signings. The majority of previous signings have been lamentable to say the least.

Doubtful; but could do worse!
We wouldn't have the cash for that.
