Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
Aye. Hartley has been the best wicketkeeper on the country for many years & he can bat quite well. He's averaging 92 this season, topped the Qld Averages the previous season (44.08) & also made 522 runs @ 37.28 the season before. So the argument that Haddin & Wade were selected because they were better batsmen is fairly weak considering their incompetence with the gloves.
Anyway, rain has been predicted in Brisbane every day for the next week so there mightn't be a lot of cricket played at Border Field.

Been having some glorious weather here for the last couple of weeks but rain is forecast for day one of the Tas v Sossie game tomorrow.Should be fine & hot after that.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
Tas dismissed SA for 225 with Bell taking 3 on debut however Tassies batting woes continue. Currently 24/2 with a late finish due to rain delays.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
Wozzies find corm again after copping a shellacking last week. Vix made a good start after the bowlers did the job.

really good
got lightning and thundered off on the second day ...then it pissed down and we had no chance of getting back on
game was out of reach for the second batting team anyway ( 5/50 chasing 330 with 50 overs left)
The first bowler I umpired was playing ...took (waca district) wickets 1113 to 1117 in the game
Grandson of one my old clients/friends was playing ...he scored 142, got dropped 5 times and caught on a no ball (which I called)
Best comeback ever heard
skipper setting field for his spinner
loud mouthed fielder ( he never shut up and it was mainly garbage) says " we need a deep point for his short ball"
captain says " shut up ....when do i ever set a field for bad bowling?"
LMF ...." Everytime you give me the ball"
Best spray
LMF when bowling has started acting like a pork chop
yelled "F*ck!" after getting hit for 4 ...had started kicking the pitch and had threatened to throw the ball at the batsman a couple of times
I had a quick chat with the skip that he needed to calm his player down and especially stop him swearing
LMF got a two minute dressing down with heaps of finger pointing and swearing after his over and another one before he started his next over. Worked a treat
Hehehe...great story

63 by Zampa really stuffed Tassie who will need to score at 100 per session to win. It won't happen of course. One positive to come out of the game is a good performance by debutant quickie Bell who took 7 wickets. Trouble is that Tassie need batsmen.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
300 to win on the last day seems a bridge too far.
The Wozzies will be looking for Tasmania to survive; if they can keep SA at bay WA can secure a place in the final by dismissing NSW on the last day of their match.
Cartwright is in good form in WA!

Sad note for Hartley to finish on. Notably he top scored in the 2nd innings debacle.
Seems that OP bowled with aggression, pace and movement

WA has nearly enough runs now to put NSW in just before stumps. They need 10 wickets and that will take time. If NSW make 300 plus in the 4th innings to win, good luck to them.

Cartwright slogging but these overs would be better spent bowling than adding more runs to an already difficult target.
NSW already need 400+ to win on the last day, and there are still 5 overs to bowl tonight if WA declare immediately.
