I was thinking more of Richard Allanby who was Marsh's assistant & i know also applied for the job.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
I know him also. Would not have been up to it.

Good for Tas. Talented players did not seem to be enjoying themselves and backing themselves in. Griff will hopefully instil confidence and enjoyment again.
Immediate dismissal would suggest it was not just Dan ain't the Man that was a jerk.

Looks like the new stadium might not be ready for The Ashes?

They should give it to Hobart.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
The Hobart crowd for an Ashes Test would probably match that at recent WACA Tests.

I see they are going to play one of the Hurricanes home games in Launceston next BBL season. It will be interesting to see how they market it. I suspect they will have to drop the name 'Hobart' otherwise they will play to an empty stadium.

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
The bloodletting has begun in Tas.
Dom Michael has returned to Qld for family reasons but was'nt going to receive a contract for next year. Suprisingly, Ryan Lees has been dropped. He is a very promising quick who represented Tas in U23's & was selected in the CA XI. Had some good returns in the Futures League. Hamish Kingston is also in doubt.Of course they could just be offloading some of their surfeit of bowlers to free up money for some much needed batsmen. I hope so.

Nar...we've got Wadey now.
The pay dispute is upsetting forward planning though. Interestingly i see Gilly has come out in favour of CA.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
Former Oarsome Foursome member Drew Ginn has been appointed high performance manager for Tasmania. Despite not having a cricket background, he beat out eighty applicants for the job. Well, if Pat Howard can do it.....oh wait.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
Crikey!! It seems no cricket background is perfect for top cricket high performance management, and mediocre cricket background (Sutherland and Roberts) is perfect for top cricket administration.
We'll all be rooned!!!

From Cric Tas:
“The recent review undertaken by Mike Hussey recommended the role of General Manager Cricket be split into High Performance and Cricket Operations. This has allowed us to focus on recruiting a high performance expert to lead the professional management of Cricket Tasmania’s elite male and female programs with the delivery of world-class player development from pathway to senior teams, ultimately driving the production of future Australian players."
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2016/2017 (II)
Jeff Vaughan has been appointed assistant coach of Tas.
Name did'nt ring any bells but apparently he had a few games with South Aust & until recently was on the coaching staff in SA.

Rohrer leaves the Blues (cut) and joins Tasmania as a talent identification and development officer.
No word on whether he might play FC for Tasmania, but probably not. He is still contracted to a NSW franchise for the giggly stuff.

Didn't realise Rohrer was 36. Only seems like yesty that he was "up and coming".
