Re: Champions Trophy 2017
Well done to the Bangers, and they should be through to the Semis barring some miracle from Aus.

It would now be bloody funny if Australia lost to England and Bangladesh went through to the semi finals.
Nothing is more certain.
Yet another rained out draw and Australia exiting the tournament undefeated is more likely.

England being shit at ODI was supposed to be one of the eternal truths of the game. This new and vastly improved version feels like a betrayal.

Point still stands. The real England should be 108/4 now after 26 overs, not 169/3.

Despite today, don't think our bowling is going to stand up at some point in a SF or Final. Unlucky for Aus really, they would have beaten Banglas easily.
Weird that I can't remember ever seeing so many games not naturally completed and results by DL. For example I can't remember any of Essex 50 overs games this season not going the distance? And they were over the course of a few weeks. The last 2 weeks hasn't felt like the start of summer at all, it was better in May.

Re: Champions Trophy 2017
Oz poor, but seems odd to have a tournament in a country with a summer climate like this.
It was probably tough for the Aussie bats who hadn't faced a ball in the tournament to make an impact with their inherent rustiness.
Great catch by Roy. Bad miss by Wade. Stokes the most damaging all-rounder in world cricket.

Re: Champions Trophy 2017
Wood was good.
Rashid got a couple of wickets off average balls (leggoogly bowlers, eh?), but he's much improved at international level. Not only confident with the bosie - he rarely serves 'em up on a plate any more. He is always going to get carved and hoicked a bit. But if he comes out with (say) 3 important scalps for 50, a pretty good trade-off.
And just two and a bit batsmen then pretty much won it. Root - anyone can have a failure. Hales too, of late. But - despite the cracking catch - Roy with the bat is in the absolute woes at the mo. Even the stance he got into, on that shot he was out to. Floundering like a flabbergasted flatfish on a slab.
Plunkett and Ball - off days. Plunks also shelled a couple, on a day the ball kept coming to him. Ball is the bigger concern, still. Has the odd good day ...
Australia did indeed look rusty. But some current-Roy-type shots against Rashid, ouch.
Amazing to see Bangladesh go through, however rain-assisted it was. Decent effort!

Yes, good on the Bangers. The Roy catch was excellent, even if it has become customary. He can't seem to get out of single figures much though it seems.

I'm fascinated by Australia's obsession with Moises Henriques, who never looks anything more than a club cricketer whenever I see him play, yet here he was in this tournament, batting for Australia at number 4. Astounding.

Apparently* Reeks has the lowest ODI average of any Australian top order batsman with a 10+ innings (or some such).

And it's even more astounding considering they had Stoinis in the squad. You'd almost think he hadn't, three or four ODIs prior for Australia, smashed a near match-winning hundred against New Zealand.
It's a FACT that some Australian cricketers receive unjust special treatment simply because. Nothing to do with form whatsoever. It's why Shaun Marsh will still be considered 'promising' by the likes of Mark Waugh well into his 30s.

And what the hell does Usman Khawaja have to do to get a regular spot? Not be a "f*cking blac c*unt", I guess......
This was England, with dodgy weather, and the ball nipping a bit early. And Australia's best performing and technically correct domestic batsman in all formats over the last three years couldn't get a game.

Just a minor setback for the greatest pace quartet ever assembled (altho 'Patto' MIA) since the Windians of 1980s.

if there was a time to gamble with selection, it was this game. But no, the selectors played it safe and backed Henriques (and Cummins) and it backfired,

Neither Henriques nor Cummins is up to scratch. Cummins was promising in 2011 when he was a teenager, but he hasn't come on (and won't).
Which State are they from, again?

Total disgrace. AB must decide if he still wants to play international cricket. Otherwise he must fark off and take Domingo with him.

Shocking performance from SA.
Choking or just a poor batting line-up?
Lance and Donald surely their running coach!

Amazingly enough is still ranked the #1 batsman in the world in this format, but his horrendous tournament suggests he might be better off pulling up stumps given that he doesn't appear interested in test cricket but has a dream of winning the WC. It would appear SA has no hope with guys like Rilee R departing for England. He was definitely in their best team in this form of the game but was interested in seeking greener pastures.
