Trike and Furriner are always great to read.

Whenever and wherever people rise above the bit of natural disappointment - and the pull of that sort of defensive nationalism that's wrapped up with a misplaced need for boosted personal self-esteem - to ironic wit, urbanity and a bolder generosity of spirit, ....

that always gladdens me heart.

Good jokes, too.

afaik bumrah hasn't bowled a single no ball in his entire IPL spell.

Unless you mean "genuinely happening", I suppose you mean "not fixed"?

Not sure India has had anyone fingered since Azha, have they? Never 100% impossible obviously, but surely it's a lot more complicated to "engineer" a shock win than throw a shock defeat? You generally have to draw in 2, 3 or so members of the opposition, it seems.

(Unless you mean the Pakistan team were actually by some distance the best team from the start - and only feigned creeping into the Last 8 and then flunked it the first time vs India to maximise takings?)

Anyway, call me naive, looks kosher to me.

Sreesanth and a number of others in the IPL.

But then again, don't Richmond always finish ninth for some godforsaken reason like eclipses interrupting matches rather than losing to ninth?

For all his living inside his head, Kohli gave a decent little speech, where praising the opposition played a big part.

Talking of dickheadery, what's this bizarre FIGJAM performance that Hasan Ali has developed, on taking a wicket?

He double-fistpumps at the innocent ground, then goes into that "martyred gladiator" pose that earned askance looks when Flintoff used to indulge in it.

(At least "Fred" used to put on a suitably daft expression in that self-crucified position - Hasan looks as if he's never heard of the risk of looking solemnly, self-adulatingly ridiculous.)

No begrudging professional sports stars their celebrations of a "win".

But Hasan goes into a stilted two-act drama that basically looks a bit errr, knobbish.

Hasan Ali has patented the Bung chainsaw coupled with the Freddie crucifix - better known as the Hasan's Slice of Christ or the Jesus Chop.

Becomes more pointless with the next world cup being a 10 team edition.

the viewer has tough time discerning which match is played for benefit of boards and which matches are genuine competition. IMO Pak was clearly the worst team of the tournament. I have been following Sarfaraz Ahmed for some time, he is the most unfit international cricketer. He is out of breath after 50 and loses oomph very rapidly reaching 50. He is also fat.

Hassan Ali and Jumaid Khan are old school pakis. JK could be seen furiously rubbing the cricket ball on the ground in the game against england while doing his stretching routine. Again ICC pretends to not see.

Hafeez & Malik are seriously low on condidence and lack temperament to face pressure.

Mohd Aamir and Imad Wasim are talented but they didn't convince anybody durimg the first 4 matches they played. 40 overs should say a lot.

Which is, in itself, another ICC fark up.
