Oh Stokesy......STOKESY!!!

I’ve just seen footage of the incident in Bristol. How else can I say this?........he’s f*cked. I can’t see how he’ll play in the ashes after this, and at the very least I can’t see how he’ll avoid a suspended prison sentence.

Oh yeah, and there goes the Ashes as far as England are concerned......

For those that haven’t seen it, a guy clearly identifiable as Stokes is lashing out at several men in the street. Another guy who appears to be Alex Hales seems to be half-heartedly trying to stop him whilst also fearing he could get caught in the crossfire. It really doesn’t look good.

Damn! So he definitely won't be coming?

Have you seen the video? Even if the police clear him to travel to Australia, the ECB (or the ICC? Can they intervene?) will be under extreme pressure to suspend him for quite a long time.

For all of the likely talk of who started it and what was actually said/done leading up the brawl,  Stokes was incredibly stupid to put himself into that kind of position. And he clear yhas anger management issues. Frequently an asset on the field, but evidently a f*cking diabolical liability off it.

It was reported in our press today that he will probably be required to fly back to the UK at some stage for a court appearance.

Saw it too. Wonder if he was on Ice. Could explain the out of control behaviour. But not excuse! The blokes he attacked had their hands up. He ignored them. Lucky he did not have a gun or knife.

Hales limp attempt to pacify his mate are also problematic.

Don't care about the Ashes. If the Stanny blokes did time for match fixing, this bloke needs double their sentences.

Saw Strauss only discussing his broken hand and selection on the tour. He studiously avoided discussing the incident. I really hope he had not seen footage of the incident when he gave the interview.

Suggestions (hopeful ones?) in some quarters that he was trying to stop a random ‘glassing’ of one of his mates.......

He hadn’t. This footage was released by the Sun newspaper a little over three hours ago.

Spot on. Just luck the blokes who landed on the ground did not hit their heads. Too many others have received brain injury in such circumstances.

I don’t think anyone is defending his actions. What happened was a disgrace. The ‘stopping a glassing’ theory could be seen as a motive, rather than an excuse.

Wow. That wasn't any old miss and hit flail and stumble comedy routines drunken men indulge in.

What shocks me is that that had real venom to it. Stokes was into it like those crazed men we see rioting on TV, who when they get started, end only when someone's dead.

I thought I saw someone in the video try and take a bottle to someone else, but man, I don't want to meet a drunk Stokes in a dark alley at night. Come to think of I wouldn't want to meet any kind of Stokes any time, day or night.

Unless it's not him, or unless we have missed some crucial fact, this is going to define the public perception of Stokes for a long time. Asshole.

ECB playing a bespoke dead bat. 'Spokes'man conceded they had seen the video but then dithered around the legal situation.

If Pig 🐷 had a shred of sense he would withdraw from the tour while he goes through the legal process. Instead I expect he will place the team in a very difficult situation.

He should withdraw citing mental health issues.  It's believable.
