Re: Oh Stokesy......STOKESY!!!
Well FWIW- not much- it says on cricinfo that he was allegedly defending two gay men from homophobic slurs.
That was a hell of a lot of defending, if true....

We pick too many for being "good team men", captains and coaches use it to justify picking sub-standard players who are easy to handle...
Woakes does seem to be the anti-Stokes though (one of the decent blokes, who I'm sure never smokes and probably only drinks Cokes...) I remember reading a comment a few years back (I think in the media as opposed to on here) saying that Woakes is "the one you would tell your parents you're at his house, when you're actually out on the town with Alex Hales" - how fitting that is given recent events
Sort of puts KP into perspective.

Well, very different issues really - KP didn't get on with his team-mates, Stokes certainly does... perhaps a bit too well, with the late night drinking sessions etc...

Re: Oh Stokesy......STOKESY!!!
Surprised re Hales suspension UFN. Thought he was the one trying to call
Pig off and copping a clip for his trouble.
In terms of the Stokes " I was standing up for gay folk defence", Warner tried a similar line, " was standing up for Amla when Root was doing a racist parody" defence.
The differences were Jo was not hospitalised, the Jacks were not called in and IIRC the gcspoc received a short suspension.
Personally I think the gcspoc should have received a minimum 12 months suspension.

Well, Hales was there when it kicked off so I guess they just want to find out what happened. He's not in the Ashes squad so only misses a couple of JAMODIs before the matter is resolved anyway.

All in all it's nice for it to be happening to someone other than us pre tour.

100% agree beams.
As all English supporters know, it has been the Aus way since Crappelli's time. But being a hard man and prick on the field cannot, under any circumstances, translate into to being a stomping bovver boy off it.
It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. I reckon Stokes will tour but be suspended for the first month, or sumpent like that.

Apart from the public, maybe, I don't think it will matter.

On another website they were arguing that Hales was as bad if not worse. While he did try and call Stokes off, he also at various points- apparently- kicked some guy in the head.

Not sure he was mocking so much as repeating a pretty funny line.

Please note that horrie has donated his brain cell to allow this raffle to go ahead.
I think he deserves all our thanks.

Re: Oh Stokesy......STOKESY!!!
Reports suggest that Bairstow (pretty much confirmed by previous photos), Ball and Plunkett were the other players out drinking with them that night - none present at the time of the incident but may be subject to (presumably minor) disciplinary proceedings.
