Another one gone

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/skye-kakoschkemoore-quits-over-uk-citizenship-20171122-gzqevo.html

Seems harsh - her mum was born in Singapore but it was a colony at the time which apparently* entitles her (the daughter) to UK citizenship.   Doesn't seem that different to NX's own case which the High Court said was fine.

I wonder what status then that would have conferred on any MP whose parent was born in Australia before Federation.

Yes agree. But it would have rendered most post war parliaments ineligible though. For instance, John Howard's father was born in 1896.

Always thought the LLR lacked legitimacy. He even bowled leg spin like a Pomgolian, hot to mention his spluttering ecstasy on dealing with any of the royals.

Tony Abbott's father, Dick, passed away this morning.

Sadly, Dick is going to miss his daughter and granddaughter's upcoming weddings.

Most deaths are mourned by someone.

Seems video has emerged of our second worst Davis Cup rep telling jokes about rape and black people.

The video is 20 years old and Alexander has publicly apologised. Of course it took the emergence of the video for him to apologise.

MrsK just reminded me that Abbott Sr was her orthodontist who fitted her braces. Fair play to the old man, she has lovely teeth.

Meanwhile, Lee Rhiannon hasn't won the top spot on the Senate ticket for the watermelons for the next Federal election. It might be the start of the Greens becoming electable in NSW.

There was an interesting MelbourneAge article about a speech Erics Anazi gave in the Senate on Monday. Reflecting on the ssm vote, he dismissed the majority yes vote and yabbered about how God came ahead of votes, Parliaments etc. It could have been one of his rellies decrying the Weimar Republic and supporting the burning of the Reichstag.

Oddly I feel a bit sorry for him. While he might be a bit of a nob he has always seemed a decent enough person. He is just saddled with too many right wing nutters and extremists like Sen Anazi. I think he did extremely well to get his mob across the line in the 2016 election. In so doing he saved his mob from certain electoral annihilation had Sir MM still been in charge.

He is an egomaniac ex-banker who leans to the left. I see no redeeming features.

Really? Not even winning what under Sir MM would have been an unwinnable election.

I have seen no left tendencies.... He is a middle of the road sort of bloke and there is no sign that he is an egomaniac. As I understand it, he has an open door policy as opposed to the Credlin/Sir MM junta, renowned for being isolated and domineering of their own colleagues.

I'd rather have a few ales with Truffles than Shortpants.

Hehehe.... what you would prefer? A few ales with Shortpants, some Pell blessed Communion plonk with the MM or a glass of schnapps with Erics Anazi?

Personally I'd swear off the demon drink.

Dastardly is an eejit.

Why our spies have an interest in spying on a friendly neighbour beggars belief. For donkeys years the US government has interfered in our elections, US based multinationals have donated $s to political parties and numerous right wing trade union officials and ALP pollies have received training and support from the USA.
