Re: Australia v England, 5th Test, Sydney, 4-8 January, 2018
After a steady and untroubled 1 & 50 mins for Aus, Mo removed Tweek with a c&b then Mason Crane did a Tom Curran and had a 1st Test wicket taken away by a no ball. Poms reviewed a Ooze no shot lbw and the replay showed it would've hit the stumps but he'd overstepped.
3-277 at Lunch.

Bet they're are a lot of no balls Skully that go unnoticed throughout the day. They only get checked in wickets situations. In a close match they could be the difference.
Surprised that Smith didn't get his ton on such a flat track. Bradman's record has gone begging unless he gets a second dig.

Ooze brings up a pretty decent & untroubled 150.

I think England's best chance has come and gone. The spinners bowled well but not well enough.

are you sure Cook hasn't done it? After all he is the best opener in the last 50 years.beamer wrote:Is he another BABSB WACSY, as per Drunky?
To answer my own earlier question, the only players to score two doubles in a series v England are Bradman (three times, including a triple double!), Richards, Greenidge and Graeme Smith.

Good concentration and application by Ooze and Bog to keep England wicketless in the session and take the lead.

Crane eventually gets Ooze.
And then makes Puddle look clueless.

I just saw it in flashes- did he turn around at the boundary (and prior) a couple of times after getting out to take the audience applause? Looked funny.

They were checking the no ball so he had to wait.

Crappy umpiring in that out-reviewed-not out fiasco. Wouldn't have hit a 2nd set of stumps but was given not out for an inside edge that wasn't.
Good day for Aus. 133 in front with 6 wickets in hand.

Looks like another belting for the poms. Any chance a Sydney curator might one day leave some grass on the pitch to give the bowlers some hope?
Hard to believe Smith didn't ton up on this road.

The Victorians on FB do seem a little touchy about the MCG wicket criticism.

It deserved to be criticised, but the SCG not only makes it tough for bowlers, especially mid-match, but allows batsmen to play shots with impunity.
So many times we see the pink day where we're lucky to see more than one or two wickets fall. Even Punter who was well past his prime took a double ton off the Indians mid-test on a typical Sydney road. And Clarke took a triple that day too.
Stumps day 3. 14 wickets have fallen for 825 runs. Stumps day 3 at the Boxing Day test 19 wickets had gone for 818 runs.
Of course the fact that England lacks decent bowlers compounds this.
